From an abandoned city lot in Barberton to the Summit County Hall of Fame. 🏈

This week, John was inducted alongside an incredible 2026 class, and he used his moment to thank the people who were “the voice” for him: coaches, teachers, neighbors, his wife Brittany, his kids, and a dad who drove 3+ hours to Charleston for noon kickoffs and never once complained.

He closed with a simple ask for all of us: if you see a kid on an abandoned city lot, stop and tell them they’re special. They matter. 🪨

John, watching you get recognized for all of the hard work and dedication that you’ve poured into everything that you’ve done is beyond special. Through so many struggles and challenges, you’ve continued to put your heart and soul into everything you do. The hard days, early mornings, and time away from family, it has never gone unnoticed.

Today, that same grit fuels everything that you’re doing with the Cominsky Family Foundation. You are most deserving of this Hall of Fame induction and we could not be more proud of you. We love you, Congratulations 💜

John’s Thank You Tour took him 10.5 miles across town to local businesses who have shown up for the Cominsky Family Foundation. Every one of them deserved a knuckle bump and a thank you, and they got both.

13 stops. 10.5 miles. One afternoon to say thank you.

On September 17th, John is taking to the streets of Barberton for the Cominsky Family Foundation Thank You Tour; a 10.5-mile run stopping at 13 local spots to show our gratitude to the village that raised us.

From our starting line at The Basement to our final stop at Skoops, this run is all about honoring the local businesses, neighbors, and supporters who help us push the rock every day. The work is never done, but taking time to appreciate the people standing in the gap with us makes every mile worth it.

We had an incredible afternoon celebrating Barberton Community Day with the Akron RubberDucks as their Charity of the Night! From throwing out the first pitch to connecting with local families in the stands, seeing our community come together is what pushing the rock is all about.

Last weekend, we had the privilege of being the main sponsor for the Heroes & Helpers event at the Barberton Public Library. It was an incredible afternoon spent celebrating and thanking our local first responders, police officers, and firefighters who dedicate their lives to keeping our community safe.

At the Cominsky Family Foundation, building a strong village starts with supporting those who serve it every day. Seeing families, kids, and local heroes come together is what pushing the rock is all about. 🪨
