Common Threads this week! Dinner tonight! The Closet open Thursday and Saturday!

Wednesday, Tonight, Oct 14th….Join us 5:30-6:30p, serving baked chicken, riice, steamed fresh cauliflower with butter, and dessert, hot coffee and cold beverage too! Prepared and served by Crossroads Community Church - Norton. Doors open at 5p.

Tomorrow, Thursday, October 15th…the Closet is open 4-7p for clothing, shoes and household items.

Choice Food Pantry, 4-6p, please bring bags and if you have an ID. Breakfast, lunch and dinner items, you choose, groceries, breakfast and meats.

No appointment is necessary for clothing or pantry but we ask for patience, we are super busy and offer a number system so we can help everyone get thru as quickly as possible. Parking is available on the streets...please enter in the door across from the YMCA.

Bus stop is at the corner of Lake Avenue and 2nd Street. Common Threads Closet in Barberton is located at 211 3rd St NW, in the lower level of Lakeview United Methodist Church.

We’re also open Saturday, October 17th! Common Threads Closet is open 10a-1p, hot lunch served 10:30a-12:30p. This Saturday’s lunch is cooked and served by the incredible cooks from St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Barberton, OH.
Serving up an Italian dinner…lasagna, meatballs and Alfredo, salad and dessert!

🎄🎁 CHRISTMAS ASSISTANCE SIGN-UPS ARE COMING UP! 🎁🎄

❤️ The holiday season is just around the corner, and The Salvation Army of Summit County is here to help bring hope, joy, and Christmas cheer to local families in need!

We will be accepting applications for our 2026 Christmas Assistance Program on Tuesday, October 13th!

📍 Location: 190 S. Maple Street, Akron, OH 44302
📅 Date: Tuesday, October 13, 2026
⏰ Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📋 WHAT TO BRING:
• Photo ID
• Proof of current address
• Proof of all children in the household, including ages
• Proof of income
• Children's clothing/shoe sizes and preferences

It’s Wednesday & we’re serving a homemade dinner tonight!
Swiss steak, mashers, veggie and dessert, always hot coffee and cold beverage too! Lakeview United Methodist Church is cooking and serving 5:30-6:30p. Doors open at 5p.

Tomorrow, Thursday, October 8th, ONLY the Closet is open 4-7p for clothing, shoes and household items.

There is No Choice Food Pantry Tomorrow. We apologize, we’ve have to cancel this week, we will have next Thursday. We apologize for any inconvenience.

🎄❤️ LISSY’S LEGACY OF LOVE CHRISTMAS ASSISTANCE ❤️🎄

Once again, Lissy’s Legacy of Love will be accepting applications for Christmas assistance for children affected by addiction.

We serve children ages 1–18 (still in high school) in Summit, Stark, Wayne, and Medina Counties who have been affected by addiction in one of the following ways:
• A parent is incarcerated on drug-related charges
• A child has been removed from their parent’s custody due to drugs
• A child is living with family members because of a parent’s drug use
• A parent has passed away from an overdose
Only the child’s legal guardian may apply.

🎁 HOW IT WORKS:
Visit our website and complete an application for each child you are applying for. Please make sure all information is filled out completely.

Once your application has been approved, we will mail you a letter with your pickup date and time. There will be one designated pickup day and time, and pickup will be in Norton, Ohio.

📌 If we have helped your family in the past:
If nothing has changed, including your address, you do not need to resubmit your documents.

📌 If we have never helped your family before:
You will need to submit the required documentation so we can process your application.

⚠️ SPACE IS LIMITED!
Applications will be accepted until October 30, 2026, or until all available spaces are filled—whichever comes first.

We are honored to continue Lissy’s legacy by bringing a little extra love and Christmas joy to children whose lives have been impacted by addiction. ❤️🎄
