Get ready to fire up the grills!
The Slate Belt Smoke Out is a premier Northeast Barbecue Society (NEBS) Classic contest that will be helping Rescue Fire Co #1 of Bangor Pennsylvania raise funds for equipment and gear that they need to protect life and property throughout their service area while bringing together the region’s best pitmasters and backyard enthusiasts, along with a wide variety of vendors, for a weekend of high-stakes outdoor cooking and community fun.
Competitors will go head-to-head in two categories to vie for the prestigious Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion titles!
Teams showcase their skills with wild or farm-raised chicken, from juicy thighs to perfectly smoked wings. There will also be a battle of the best pork ribs—be it Loin Back, Baby Back, Spare, or St. Louis style.

There will be something for everyone
Dessert: Pitmasters will show off their sweet side with desserts assembled and cooked right on-site.
The Kids-Q is going to be Pork Chops. The next generation of BBQ stars will take the stage, preparing perfectly grilled pork chops for the judges. There will also be a People’s Choice category. Chicken Wings competitors will provide 100 samples for public voting. The winning team walks away with 50% of the ticket sales!
ALL PROCEEDS BENEFIT RESCUE FIRE CO #1. We are a VOLUNTEER 501c3 organization that depends on fund drives to survive.
