As peasant farmers and indigenous peoples struggle for land and livelihood in the countryside of the Philippines, overseas people must understand feudalism and semi-feudalism to truly support their fight against landlessness, displacement, and exploitation.

We will discuss feudalism as a basic problem of PH society and its role in BAYAN USA campaigns such as the Shut the Pax Down campaign and the Defend Negros campaign. We will also hear sharings from recent immersion trips to the Philippine countryside where BAYAN members saw the conditions of feudalism firsthand.

Thank you to everyone who has donated to Alma’s emergency health fund 🙏🏾❤️ We have raised $1,338 of our $7k goal.

On August 3, Alma went to the emergency room after experiencing severe eye pain. She was diagnosed with glaucoma and had to get immediate laser eye surgery. The surgery, combined with other medical and travel expenses, costs thousands of dollars. Given Alma’s lack of immigration status, she is ineligible for Medicare or Medicaid, and has to pay medical costs out of pocket.

Please support our continuous Migrante Defense Fund to support migrant workers in distress. We are requesting community support to assist a kababayan to return to their home state and reunite with their family.

As our fellow kababayan are exploited and abused under the US-Marcos regime, its Consulates, and its Embassy have continually left them to suffer with no assistance. We recognize that the Seattle Consulate and Consul General Henry Bensurto Jr. are not public servants meant to uphold the rights and welfare of Overseas Filipinos in distress, but bureaucratic capitalists meant to serve the greedy interests of the US-Marcos regime.

Our community has stepped up time and time again as the fascist, neglectful state has failed to address the needs and interests of our kababayan. In the absence of support from the PH government, we call on our community to step up to address the failures of our government.

The Justice for Alma Bowman campaign is still going strong! Since getting out of detention, Alma has continued to face the trials of ICE persecution of migrants even on the outside. Surveillance, repeated check ins, and the prevention of her ability to work or drive have been constant sources of hardship for her. Still, Alma has continued to stand up for migrants like her while fighting for her own freedom!
