Gray is at the vet this morning for an ultrasound as he’s still having some issues with his bladder.

07/01/2026

Unfortunately Gray’s urinalysis still shows infection so another 4 weeks of meds. Hoping we can get his neuter and dental scheduled soon. He’s doing well otherwise and still enjoys walks every morning. He can’t go much further than a half mile as he’s pretty exhausted when we get home but he still “runs” to the door when he sees the leash.

Meet Gray. Life has been hard for this deaf senior boy. He came from a rural shelter after his former owner set the house on fire and left him behind. Luckily one of the deputies who responded that night made a few connections and we were able to get him out. It was hard to see the initial photos and not help him. His shelter paperwork had him at only 86lbs. He is slowly gaining weight and is at 110lbs now after being with us a few weeks. Unfortunately he is heartworm positive. Our vet has recommended slow kill due to his age and overall condition. He was started on doxy but it was too much for him so we changed to minocycline. He was having some issues with vomiting and regurgitation but that has finally stopped. His GI is still pretty sensitive as he’s also had bloody stools. It appeared that he had a uti but after follow up urinalysis they think it’s actually prostatitis instead. The current antibiotic won’t work for that so we added an additional one today. His teeth are pretty bad and he will be getting a dental once his weight is better and he’s a bit healthier. He’s done well in his foster with the other dogs and adjusting to living indoors. He gets really excited to ride in a car or go on a walk. For all he’s been through he’s a really sweet boy.
Donations to help with his care can be made via PayPal, [email protected]
He’s not available for adoption yet.
