Hello All!
I know there is a trip planned for next weekend to go to Virginia. I hope that whoever is going has a great time and stays safe! I would like to go to the Air Show at Cherry Point and see the Blue Angels perform! Anyone that would like to join me is welcome. You will need to go on the website and get a base pass and a ticket to the show (https://www.cherrypointairshow.com).
“Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point—America’s Air Station—is the place to be for aviation enthusiasts, aeronautical admirers, air show aficionados and moms, May 9-10, 2026.
The show starts at 10 a.m., and gates open at 8 a.m. So, get there early. A base pass is required for all vehicles, even those driven by common-access cardholders. Guests should be aware that the air show is a smoking-free event, and a clear-bag policy will be in effect.
The 2026 MCAS Cherry Point Air Show will captivate, thrill, amaze and entertain the public in Eastern North Carolina with an electrifying lineup of military and civilian aerobatic performances, ground demonstrations and displays to celebrate America’s 250th birthday.
It will be a celebration of American excellence and a tribute to the strength, innovation, and freedom the nation has epitomized for two and a half centuries. MCAS Cherry Point and 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing hosts the world-class event that reflects the professionalism of its Marines and federal service civilian workforce, and the enduring bound it shares with North Carolina.
The Blue Angels, the Navy’s premier aerial demonstration team, will headline the show that will also include demonstrations from the F-16 Viper, and F-35 Lightning II, and a special appearance of the AV-8B Harrier, and civilian performances from the Chuters Jump Team, Randy Ball, Marco Bouw, Stephen Covington and Wicked Willy's Jet Car, R.J. Gritter, Tom Larkin’s Mini Jet, Aarron Deliu, Bob “Rooster” Schmidle, Jim Tobul and Wingwalker Sam, with more to be confirmed. Showgoers will be able to engage with military members and get hands-on varieties of military equipment, while marveling at exhilarating aerobatics, stunts and maneuvers and educational ground demonstrations from historic preservation groups and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professionals.
The MCAS Cherry Point Air Show is the event of the season. Make plans to be a part of the celebration of the nation and its mighty military.”
The Base pass and the Ticket to the show are both free. There are bleacher seats remaining that you can purchase if you would like. They are $26.83 each and are first come-first served, they are not reserved. I have been to this show in the past and it was a very good show with a great demonstration by the Blue Angels! If you have never seen them perform and you like aerial performances, you should do yourself a favor and see them at least once. This is also a celebration of America’s 250th.
The last time we went, we entered the base at the Slocum Gate which is the first gate you get to when coming in to Havelock. I’m assuming and planning on the same thing. Anyone that is attending should check out the event website for more information and for a list of prohibited items. You will be subject to possible search at the gate.
Anyone that would like to go, meet me at the Circle K on Hotel Dr in New Bern on Saturday at 8:30am with KSU at 9:00am. After the show, we can find somewhere for dinner. We can stay in Havelock, head down into Morehead City, or head back to New Bern.
Look forward to seeing everyone that can make it!
