Hello All!
I know there is a trip planned for next weekend to go to Virginia. I hope that whoever is going has a great time and stays safe! I would like to go to the Air Show at Cherry Point and see the Blue Angels perform! Anyone that would like to join me is welcome. You will need to go on the website and get a base pass and a ticket to the show (https://www.cherrypointairshow.com).

“Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point—America’s Air Station—is the place to be for aviation enthusiasts, aeronautical admirers, air show aficionados and moms, May 9-10, 2026.
The show starts at 10 a.m., and gates open at 8 a.m. So, get there early. A base pass is required for all vehicles, even those driven by common-access cardholders. Guests should be aware that the air show is a smoking-free event, and a clear-bag policy will be in effect.

The 2026 MCAS Cherry Point Air Show will captivate, thrill, amaze and entertain the public in Eastern North Carolina with an electrifying lineup of military and civilian aerobatic performances, ground demonstrations and displays to celebrate America’s 250th birthday.

It will be a celebration of American excellence and a tribute to the strength, innovation, and freedom the nation has epitomized for two and a half centuries. MCAS Cherry Point and 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing hosts the world-class event that reflects the professionalism of its Marines and federal service civilian workforce, and the enduring bound it shares with North Carolina.

The Blue Angels, the Navy’s premier aerial demonstration team, will headline the show that will also include demonstrations from the F-16 Viper, and F-35 Lightning II, and a special appearance of the AV-8B Harrier, and civilian performances from the Chuters Jump Team, Randy Ball, Marco Bouw, Stephen Covington and Wicked Willy's Jet Car, R.J. Gritter, Tom Larkin’s Mini Jet, Aarron Deliu, Bob “Rooster” Schmidle, Jim Tobul and Wingwalker Sam, with more to be confirmed. Showgoers will be able to engage with military members and get hands-on varieties of military equipment, while marveling at exhilarating aerobatics, stunts and maneuvers and educational ground demonstrations from historic preservation groups and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professionals.

The MCAS Cherry Point Air Show is the event of the season. Make plans to be a part of the celebration of the nation and its mighty military.”

The Base pass and the Ticket to the show are both free. There are bleacher seats remaining that you can purchase if you would like. They are $26.83 each and are first come-first served, they are not reserved. I have been to this show in the past and it was a very good show with a great demonstration by the Blue Angels! If you have never seen them perform and you like aerial performances, you should do yourself a favor and see them at least once. This is also a celebration of America’s 250th.

The last time we went, we entered the base at the Slocum Gate which is the first gate you get to when coming in to Havelock. I’m assuming and planning on the same thing. Anyone that is attending should check out the event website for more information and for a list of prohibited items. You will be subject to possible search at the gate.

Anyone that would like to go, meet me at the Circle K on Hotel Dr in New Bern on Saturday at 8:30am with KSU at 9:00am. After the show, we can find somewhere for dinner. We can stay in Havelock, head down into Morehead City, or head back to New Bern.

Look forward to seeing everyone that can make it!

Members of the SCRC Swift Creek-Vanceboro Chapter 283:
Your chapter has been inactive for a couple of years, and needs more involvement from its leadership and members. There is currently a void that must be filled for the chapter to continue long-term.

I am seeking a volunteer to become the chapter First Officer and/or a Road Captain. While the FO position does have some responsibilities, it can be as much or as little as you are able to make of it. I will provide as much support as you need and that I can from 2 1/2 hours away (I'm in Sanford). I can give a lot of support online, through enhanced communications & social media posts, and will do everything I can to help ensure a successful chapter. I think there is still a lot of potential for growth and activity of the chapter in the general area with a renewed emphasis on posting rides, attracting new members, and having a positive attitude and outlook.

A designation as Road Captain means that you are able to plan and lead rides, and willing to post those rides to the members. There is no specific frequency requirement, but at least once every couple of months during the riding season would be the minimum expectation.

The official location and name of the chapter can be changed if desired. Greenville and Kinston are more central to many of the current members, so those are possibilities for a relocation (see attached member map). I am open to suggestions as to the direction of the chapter. We could also divide the chapter into more than one chapter if we have local leadership and interest in multiple locations.

I appreciate your membership in SCRC, and I hope to see each of you during upcoming events in 2026. Anyone in the chapter can post a ride, so if you want some company, let everyone know what you're doing with a post on the chapter page.

Please call, text, or email me regarding the First Officer or Road Captain position, or any other discussion and/or ideas you have for the Swift Creek-Vanceboro Chapter. Thanks!

Officers, pass this reminder to all members. Thank you.
I posted this a while back, but it is worth revisiting.
The Southern Cruisers is such a great concept and has exceeded our founder's expectations. Note to all:
Do you come out and ride occasionally ?
Do you enjoy riding with friends ?
Do you show respect for all our members ?
Do you respect everyone’s choice of motorcycle ?
Do you greet all members with a friendly attitude ?
Do you ride with everyone’s safety in mind ?
Do you love and respect the riding club concept ?
Do you say words that lift up our club in a positive manner ?
Do you try to participate in SCRC events, even If you are no longer able to ride ?
If your answer is “yes” to these questions, then you do “get it”, as they say. It really is that simple and easy to "get it".
So, stay safe and I hope to join you on the road somewhere sometime soon. Enjoy your SCRC experience, because you meet the best friends possible on a motorcycle.
Thank you Rick, "Rickster", for pursuing this vision 25 years ago. There has never been a better nor simpler riding club than the Southern Cruisers Riding Club. — remembering those moments.
Have a great winter, but ride if you can. If you can't ride due to weather, then try some dinner meetings or Holiday gatherings. Safe riders are happy riders.

If you have not rode or attended a meeting event etc in 90 days please contact your 1st Officer. It's your job to let your 1st Officer know your situation. I'm not seeing much participation across the State to keep this club healthy and active we need alot more participation It's the same few people keeping things alive. We have a big Ride this Saturday October 28 in Benson hope to see many faces there along with our new members.
Best Regards
