“MS Zingers” are sudden altered nerve sensations caused by damage to the myelin in multiple sclerosis. When nerve signals are disrupted, the brain can receive abnormal messages that feel like electric shocks, burning, squeezing, cold, stabbing, or prickly sensations. They can appear suddenly and often disappear just as quickly.
One well-known example is an electric shock sensation that runs down the spine when the neck bends forward, but many MS “zingers” can happen anywhere in the body when irritated nerves misfire.
