This little boy needs to get back to Denver. His wonderful owner passed and the niece took Chief to Livingston, MT. She has not decided that she does not want him and is taking him to a kennel until we can get him. Is there anyone who can get him closer to us? Text PJ at 303-717-7695. Shirley, 1 and 1/2 years old, came all the way from Texas, where she and her three puppies were rescued from the euthanasia list. Despite her rough start, this girl has a heart full of love and a personality that will keep you smiling. If you're looking for a heeler who can be both a hiking buddy and a professional lap dog, Shirley may be your perfect match. She loves people, craves affection, and is happiest when she's close to her humans. She can get a little overexcited and jump up to say hello, and she's working hard with her foster family on polite greetings. She can be possessive of attention and food around other dogs, so she'll need continued guidance in a multi-dog home. Shirley is potty trained, sleeps well in her crate, takes treats gently, and is learning commands such as “sit, stay, down, kennel, and go potty.” Do you have a warm lap and an active lifestyle for Shirley? She can't wait to meet you.

What a truly triumphant day at our adoption event! Today, we've found forever homes for the lovely Lizzy, Roxy, Penny, Rosie, Kit Kat, Kesha, Lavern, and Ted. We're eternally grateful to everyone who participated and our extraordinary volunteers who made it all happen!

We got Birdy (she was Hope when we got her) from New Hope in April 2017.

Her name comes from Ladybird Johnson, as we lived in Austin TX for 10 years. We got our red heeler Amico there, and named him after a pizza place in Salida, Amica's. She was a sweet little mess! She had heart worm, and New Hope had rescued her off the streets in Dallas; she also appeared to have had puppies. She was so skittish and nervous, she ate 2 of my Birkenstocks (she spit out the buckles), a remote control and the corner of our wood floor. :)

But after a year of treatments, she was heart worm free and she has come to be the sweetest pup we could have ever imagined. We had a red heeler at the time, Amico, and they were the best of buddies before we had to say goodbye to him in 2022. She loves our son Wyatt, she is fiercely protective; she loves long walks, running up the dirt road in Salida, chewing sticks and she's a champ snuggler.

We cannot thank New Hope enough for supporting these sweet cattle dogs and finding them homes, we are so grateful we found Birdy.

Rosie is an energetic pup that likes to play and run. She’s potty trained and is finding her routine. Rosie has adapted to use of her crate in a short time, but needs more reinforcement. She’s a sweet and loving dog who attaches quickly. She is ready to find her Colorado family!!
