Join Rotary Club of Aurora First Light to hear our Outbound, Ethan, give us his practice presentation for when he presents at his hosting club in Germany after he arrives in September. Our club loves the Rotary Youth Exchange Program and the benefits of sponsoring/hosting students in this life-changing experience. If you know a local high school student between ages 15-17 that might be interested in becoming a Youth Exchange Student, join our meeting to learn more about this program or reach out to the District 6450 Outbound Coordinator, Sue, at [email protected].

Aurora First Light was pleased to hear from Brianna and Lisa from Senior Services Associates today. This great organization provides services for those 60 years and older and their caregivers. They provide resource help: Medicare education, paperwork assistance, housing, transportation, food assistance, energy assistance October-August, activity programs, etc. to help seniors to continue to be independent. The also offer a Community Care Program and Caregiver Assistance Program. They also offer a 24 hour Elder Abuse Hotline: 866-800-1409. They have offices that service Kane, Kendall and McHenry counties.
If you know of anyone that needs this organizations assistance, see the picture with all of their contact information and please share.
They also have a couple fundraisers coming up this fall a pie sale and a 5Bs meal order in Yorkville before Labor Day. For more information, check their website:

Aurora First Light enjoyed welcoming Dr. Halverson, Superintendent of District 131, back to our club to give us an update on his first year as Superintendent. The District has made great strides forward despite some unanticipated challenges. He is also excited for the plans/improvements for the upcoming year. The District is also proud of their focus on hiring from within keeping continuity and consistency for students and their families. Our club is also very proud that one of our former exchange students has been hired as a counselor at one of their middle schools!

It is set! Aurora First Light's 2nd Annual Golf Fundraiser is happening on September 14th. Please save the date and use the QR code to register your foursome. We are even offering an Early Birdie Special pricing. Last year was a beautiful day and a great success due to all of our great participants. We have upped our game and even having a steak dinner after a fun day of golfing. If you are not a golfer, you can still register to join us for dinner and raffles. You can also support our fundraiser by sponsoring our event or donating items to our raffle.

The Rotary Club of Aurora First Light is celebrating our nation's 250th Anniversary by holding a raffle to support a local organization, Fresh Start City Church, with their continuing effort to battle food insecurity within our community by feeding the homeless every Tuesday.
