Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office K9 Team Locates Vehicle Breaking and Entering Suspect! Dep. Andrew Nichter and K9 Taro responded to a report of a Breaking and Entering into a motor vehicle on 5/25/26. Once on scene it was determined that multiple vehicles had been broken into in the area. A witness saw the suspect run behind some homes after exiting a vehicle and Dep. Nichter deployed K9 Taro from the place the suspect was last seen. K9 Taro located a set of keys and a hat along the trail. K9 Taro began to get tired, so Dep. Nichter gave him a break while a second dog continued the trail. At that time, a perimeter unit observed a truck leaving the area at a high rate of speed and attempted a traffic stop after the vehicle ran a red light. The suspect jumped and ran from the vehicle after driving down a dead-end road. Dep. Nichter arrived and deployed K9 Taro from the driver’s side door of the truck. The North Carolina K9 Team trailed through thick brush, woods, and back yards. Deputies in the area heard sticks breaking in the wood line ahead of the K9 team and began to give K9 warnings. The suspect gave up and was taken into custody. It was later discovered that the suspect had stolen the truck from the neighborhood of the Breaking and Entering occurrences.
Great Trail Dep. Nichter and K9 Taro! Thanks to Brunswick County Sheriff's Office, NC for their commitment to creating a safer community!

According to Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron a traffic stop has led to an arrest of a Barren County Ky. man for drug trafficking.
On September 6, 2022, Deputies Derek Dennis and James Barnett were assigned to work drug interdiction on East Kentucky Highway 90. At approximately 10:47 pm the Deputies observed a passenger car with expired registration plates and operating in a careless manner. The Deputies then conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle for those moving violations. Once approaching the vehicle, the Deputies observed a passenger being very nervous. While Deputy Barnett was speaking to the driver about the violations Deputy Dennis deployed his K-9 Unit Dunya for a free air sniff around the vehicle. Deputy K-9 Unit Dunya alerted on the passenger side of the vehicle for the presence of narcotics. The Deputies then conducted a search of the passenger and the vehicle which resulted in approximately 80.10 grams of methamphetamine and a set of digital scales being seized. While being question about the illegal narcotics the passenger stated the seized items belong to him.
Deputy Dennis charged and arrested Mark Jackson of Cave City, Ky. for trafficking in a controlled substance-1st degree (greater than or equal to 2 grams of methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Jackson was lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.
