Best ways to report crime and other neighborhood safety concerns

The Aurora Police Department is committed to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all residents, regardless of background or citizenship status. As summer picks up, APD wants every resident to know their options when it comes to reporting a crime or requesting assistance.

If you witness or experience a crime, there are a several ways to file a report.

Emergency or crime in progress: Call 911 (if you cannot call, texting 911 is also an option)
Incidents that don't require an immediate response: Call the non-emergency phone number for issues like a noise complaint, parking complaint, welfare check or crimes that are not in progress. The non-emergency phone number is 303.627.3100.
Reporting a crime or traffic accident online: Go to AuroraGov.org/Police. From there, you can choose to report a crime or a crash. If you need to report more than one type of crime or accident, please complete a separate report for each incident. Each report is reviewed and you will be contacted if additional information is needed.
Neighborhood concerns that don't fall under law enforcement: Call Access Aurora at 303.739.7000, visit AuroraGov.org/AccessAurora or download the Access Aurora app to report things like graffiti, streetlights, animal control or other code enforcement issues.

The Aurora Police Department is committed to prosecuting any and all criminal acts with the full force of the law. APD does not enforce federal immigration laws and immigration status should not deter anyone from seeking justice or assistance.

Available online and at 303-739-7000, Access Aurora is the place for contacting the city of Aurora about any non-emergency concerns, questions, comments or requests for service.

Free recreation center access for teens

We Are Aurora Youth is back for the summer! This program is designed to give youth, ages 13 to 18, a fun and safe place to hang out during school breaks by granting them free access to recreation centers.

Teens will also have a chance to participate in staff-led activities such as basketball, volleyball, flag football, soccer, eSports, board games and gift card competitions.

Dates - Weekdays through Aug. 7, Moorhead Recreation Center, 2390 Havana St., locally for Northwest Aurora residents.
