Aurora Museum Foundation’s Annual Meeting was held on Saturday, March 15th at the Aurora History Museum. The meeting was followed by a special presentation from Neon Todd from Morry’s Neon Signs. He brought samples of neon and shared the magical story of these lighted wonders.

About Todd Matuszewicz (Neon Todd):

A fifth generation Denverite, Todd has had two previous successful careers. For 13 years he was a neon tube bender and transitioned into a 15-year career as a Waldorf class teacher, teaching grades first through eighth. At 53 he returned to college and received a degree in Chemistry with a minor in History. He is the general manager of Morry’s Neon, one of the last remaining neon shops in Denver. He is currently the president of the Shawnee Water Consumers Association board, a committee member on the Park County Historic Preservation Advisory Committee and is starting a non-profit, Save the Signs.

"Confluence of Festivals" Gallery Talk was held on Sunday, March 9, 4 p.m.
“My photographs document the significant Jatra (festivals) of our region, embodying the unity and shared identity that these celebrations foster. Each photo is an ode to the art of seeing—the joy of uncovering the extraordinary within the mundane.” Youbesh Dhaubhadel

We heard more from the artist featured in our "Confluence of Festivals" exhibit in a special gallery tour, followed with an interactive panel discussion. Joined by panelists Gil Asakawa, Japanese American journalist, author and editor, and Grace Gee, who produces healing and social justice art events for all ages, with a keynote speech by Dr. Swosti Rajbhandari Kayastha, Fulbright Scholar working at the Asian American Art Museum in San Francisco.

The Aurora Museum Foundation is proud to help support Aurora History Museum & Historic Sites 2025 Summer Camps. Check out what they have planned for the youth this year.

Board Game Design Camp (Ages 8 to 16)
June 9-13, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Students will learn the language and concepts professional game designers use while creating their own roll and move board game. This camp is best for beginning designers, though experienced game designers will have the opportunity to make their game more complex. The camp will culminate with a showcase of student’s games. Don’t miss your chance; the last time we ran this camp it sold out fast!

Prehistory Camp (Ages 8-16)
July 7-11, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Did you know the area that is now Aurora used to be a great sea? Did you know dinosaurs roamed your neighborhood? Step WAY back in time to learn about how this area was originally formed and learn about the scientific processes involved in piecing together the mysteries of our distant past. We will learn about the geological process that made the Rockies Mountains and the High Plains. We will learn about the plants and animals that lived here (yes, including dinosaurs!). And finally, we connect the past to our present.
