πŸ…πŸ₯’πŸŒΏ 23 More Pounds to the Caring Center!

Another harvest delivered to the Caring Center today β€” tomatoes, cucumbers, summer squash, and green beans straight from the garden.

Garden update worth sharing: the cucumbers are thriving despite heavy cucumber beetle pressure in the area. And while squash vine borers have taken out 2-3 plants, the rest are still producing strong.

On the tomato front, Early Girl has been the standout producer of the summer. Bodacious and 4th of July are both pushing hard for second place β€” good problem to have.

Season total: 261 lbs. donated to the Caring Center. πŸ’š

We have a great team. The numbers prove it.

πŸ…πŸ₯’πŸŒΏ Three Weeks of Harvests β€” Augusta Community Garden Update

It's been a productive stretch. Here's where we stand:

August 12 β€” 27Β½ lbs. delivered
First cucumber harvest is in! The late planting strategy is paying off β€” still zero signs of squash bugs or cucumber beetles on the plants. Season total hit 153Β½ lbs.

August 18 β€” 34 lbs. delivered
Just over 34 pounds of tomatoes, squash, and cucumbers to the Caring Center. Look at those boxes. That's what a team shows up and does. Season total: 187+ lbs.

August 19 β€” 20Β½ lbs. delivered
Honest update: we spotted squash vine borers and cucumber beetles on a few plants today. We're watching closely. What we won't do is spray insecticide β€” this garden depends on pollinators, and we're not trading one problem for a bigger one. We'll harvest as long as the plants produce.

Season total: 207Β½ lbs. donated to the Augusta Caring Center. πŸ’š

Big thanks to everyone who has shown up, dug in, and made this happen.

πŸ…πŸ«‘πŸ₯¬ 40 Pounds to the Caring Center!

This week's harvest was one of our biggest single-day donations yet β€” 40 lbs. of fresh vegetables delivered to the Caring Center, including tomatoes, green beans, squash, cucumbers, and peppers.

And that late-planted squash bed? Look at it now. 🌿 We got 1Β½ lbs. of squash out of it today β€” and zero squash bugs or cucumber beetles. The strategy worked.

Running season total: 126 lbs. donated to Augusta neighbors.

That's not a small number. That's real food for real families, grown and harvested by volunteers who show up week after week.

We have a great team!

πŸ…πŸ«‘πŸ₯¬ 14Β½ Pounds to the Caring Center Today!

Another strong harvest day at Augusta Community Garden β€” and the numbers are telling a great story.

Today's donation to the Caring Center: 14Β½ lbs.

Here's what's producing:
πŸ… Early Girl tomatoes (5 plants) β€” nearly 8 lbs. today, the clear leaders
πŸ… 4th of July tomatoes (2 plants) β€” 2ΒΎ lbs. and going strong
πŸ«‘ Better Belle IV peppers (7 plants) β€” just over 2Β½ lbs.
πŸ₯¬ Summer squash β€” fruit is sizing up and nearly ready

Season total: almost 86 lbs. donated to the Caring Center.

That number represents real meals for Augusta families. And there's more coming.

πŸ₯”πŸ«˜πŸ… Big Harvest Day at Augusta Community Garden!
Yesterday morning, we pulled the last of the potatoes and beets β€” and the beans were ready too. Everything went straight to the Caring Center.
Today's haul:
πŸ₯” Potatoes β€” 20 lbs.
πŸ«– Beets β€” 2 lbs.
πŸ… Tomatoes β€” a fresh handful
🫘 Green Beans β€” 5.5 lbs.
Total delivered: 29 lbs. of fresh vegetables to neighbors who need it most.
We also wrapped up that bed β€” drip tape shut off and rolled, row officially done for the season.
The garden keeps giving. πŸ’š

🌱 Reclaimed. Planted. Protected.
We cleared a section of the garden that had been overtaken, got cucumber and summer squash seeds in the ground, and mulched the bed. A center channel stays open until drip irrigation is installed β€” then that gets covered too.
Yes, it's a bit late in the season. That's deliberate. Planting later helps us outmaneuver squash bugs and cucumber beetles. The ground was also too wet to work until now.
The garden sets the timeline. We work it.
πŸ«› More updates as these beds develop!
