S.W.A.T. Foundation, Inc. is proud to partner with CSRA WorkSource Georgia for a Workforce Readiness Employer Listening Session on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Georgia Department of Labor Augusta Career Center.

We are bringing employers, workforce professionals, nonprofit organizations, training providers, and community partners together to have a real conversation about the barriers affecting employment and employee retention in the CSRA.

We want to hear from the people and organizations working directly in our local workforce ecosystem.

This session is for:

• Employers and business owners
• Human resources professionals
• Workforce development agencies
• Nonprofit and community organizations
• Training and educational institutions
• Economic development partners
• Organizations providing employment support, career readiness, transportation, childcare, financial assistance, or other wraparound services

Please note: This is not a job fair and is not an event for job seekers.

This is a listening session for employers and community partners to identify challenges, discuss gaps in services, strengthen collaboration, and help develop practical solutions that support both employers and employees.

Saturday, S.W.A.T. Foundation Inc. hosted Day One of our Financial Freedom Fest, and yes, we are standing on this message:

IT’S SPOOKY TO BE BROKE! 👻💰

Our young adults ages 18–35 spent the day learning practical financial skills they can use right now.

We covered banking, budgeting, financial leaks, credit building and repair, debt, financial decision-making, exposure, entrepreneurship, and how to recover from past financial mistakes.

Alicia N. Fitts of Peach State Credit Union kicked us off with Banking 101.

Michelle Lea Anthony of Lighthouse Business & Risk Solutions helped participants identify budgeting challenges, financial leaks, and those “money vampires” that can quietly drain your pockets.

Sai Lena T. Willis taught the group about building and repairing credit and the importance of understanding credit utilization.

After lunch from Chicken Salad Chick, we moved into a powerful panel discussion featuring Cherise M. Davis, Rich Kangz, Brent K. Oglesby, Bri Winfree, and Jessi Jay. The conversation covered smart versus bad debt, consequences of financial choices, exposure to new opportunities, investing in yourself, and how to clean up financial mistakes and move forward.

We closed out the day with Financial Literacy Trivia and plenty of opportunities for participants to apply what they learned.

Participants who successfully complete both sessions will receive a $250 stipend after October 17.

A huge thank you to Melissa Malpass for her volunteer support, Tedi L. Washington for bringing our vision to life, and Bri Winfree of SPLC for helping make this program possible.

We are also grateful to Peach State Credit Union, Chicken Salad Chick, Wesley Thompson and TCC Gives, Mr. Dennis, and the Jessie Norman School of the Arts for supporting this work.

At S.W.A.T. Foundation Inc., we are not just talking about money.

🎄 ELBERTON CHRISTMAS ASSISTANCE APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN! 🎄

S.W.A.T. Foundation is now accepting applications for our 2026 Christmas Assistance Program in Elberton.

We know transportation can be a real barrier for families. Over the last two years, we noticed that requiring children to be present made it harder for some families to participate. This year, we are offering more flexibility.

Families may verify eligibility in one of three ways:

- Complete the application online and upload the child’s birth certificate or guardian documentation.
- Come in person and bring the birth certificate or guardian documentation.
- Come in person and bring the child with you.

Families may apply for children ages 5 through 12, with up to 5 children per household.

Dear Community,

Sometimes people see S.W.A.T. Foundation at an event, see us giving away toys or school supplies, or hear about one of our workshops and ask, “What exactly does S.W.A.T. do?”

The answer is simple. We help people. But our goal is bigger than meeting an immediate need.

S.W.A.T. Foundation, Inc., which stands for Servants With A Testimony, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to educating, empowering, equipping, and serving families and communities. Our work is built around three core pillars: Early Childhood Education, Education, and Entrepreneurship, with community outreach woven throughout what we do.

Our work also carries forward the legacy of Cassandra Rucker, whose life and memory remind us that even our most difficult experiences can become a testimony that serves someone else.

Through Early Childhood Education, we support new and expectant mothers with diapers, wipes, curbside car seat education, car seats when available, and connections to resources that help give children a strong start.

Through Education, we provide young people with school supplies, toiletries and other essentials, financial literacy education, youth leadership development, and opportunities for civic engagement.

Through Entrepreneurship, we help entrepreneurs and community leaders turn ideas into sustainable businesses and organizations through one-on-one mentoring, workshops, leadership development, startup services, grant writing services, grant writing classes, and connections to resources and opportunities.

And when families are simply trying to make it through a difficult season, our Community Outreach and Assistance efforts provide Christmas assistance, toys, coats and winter essentials, food, clothing, and other emergency support when funding and resources are available.

There is a reason S.W.A.T. is structured this way.

We don't want to just provide a handout. We want to provide a hand up.

We can help a mother meet an immediate need today, help her child develop into a leader tomorrow, and help someone in that same family build a business or strengthen their financial future. That is how we begin creating economic mobility and intergenerational change.

And we want our community to know this clearly:

S.W.A.T. serves EVERYONE.

Different races. Different cultures. Different ages. Different neighborhoods. Different family structures. Different backgrounds and walks of life. If we have the resources to help, or can connect you with someone who does, we want to help.

That is why we educate.
That is why we empower.
That is why we equip.
And that is why we serve.

But we cannot do this work alone.

We are always looking to collaborate with businesses, nonprofits, community organizations, funders, volunteers, and community leaders. We also welcome facilitators and subject-matter experts who are willing to share their knowledge through our workshops and trainings.

Whether you need support, want to participate in a program, volunteer, donate, facilitate, or partner with us, there is a place for you in this work.

Every child deserves to start the school year prepared.

At S.W.A.T. Foundation Inc., we believe no child should have to worry about whether they have the supplies they need to succeed. That's why we're proud to host our annual CSRA Mega Back to School Bash on Saturday, July 25, 2026.

Families can look forward to:

• 5,000 backpacks filled with school supplies
• Toiletries and hygiene items
• Health screenings
• Car seat education and car seat giveaways
• Photo booth
• Bounce houses
• Community resources and services
• Additional giveaways and activities

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It is a reminder that freedom came at a cost paid by heroes and carried by the families who continue to honor their legacy every single day.

At S.W.A.T. Foundation Inc., we extend our deepest gratitude to all who have served and to the loved ones who continue to carry the weight of sacrifice with strength and pride.

From the SWAT Foundation family to yours… Happy Easter.

When they went to look for Jesus, He was gone.
The stone was rolled away. The grave was empty.

That moment reminds us that even in what feels final, God is still working.

At SWAT, we see it every day.
Broken situations turning into new beginnings.
Families finding hope again.
Lives being restored when it seemed impossible.

He has risen. And because He lives, there is always hope.

The S.W.A.T. Foundation family is proud to share that our CEO and Executive Director, Dr. Marquitta Rucker, will be speaking in the Atlanta area during Women’s History Month at the Women’s HERstory Day Party Celebration on March 28, 2026 at Dave & Buster’s in Marietta, Georgia.

This event, hosted by Charmeka Love, is expected to bring together over 300 women for an afternoon of empowerment, networking, and celebration of the impact women are making in our communities.

Dr. Rucker will be sharing from her journey in nonprofit leadership, grant writing, and community service through the work of the S.W.A.T. Foundation, which continues to serve families and empower women across our region.

We are grateful for opportunities like this to represent the mission of Servants With A Testimony and to share the importance of community collaboration and service.

The event is free to attend, and vendor spaces are available for $25. Businesses interested in being a vendor can contact Charmeka Love to reserve a spot.
