♻️ Behind every bale of recycled plastic is a lot of hands-on work!

Today’s collection from the City of Brewton Community Recycling Bin is being carefully sorted by PCI Recycling Technicians Chevy Bingham and Ethan Bowen. They inspect the material to ensure that only approved #1 PET plastic is included in each bale.

This important step helps prevent contamination, which can cause an entire bale to be rejected and sent to the landfill instead of being recycled.

A friendly reminder to everyone who participates in our recycling program: Please make sure your #1 PET plastic containers are completely empty, lightly rinsed, and free of food, liquids, trash, bags, or other materials before placing them in the recycling bin. When in doubt, check the recycling number and include only approved #1 PET plastic.

Thank you, Chevy and Ethan, for your hard work and attention to detail. We also appreciate the City of Brewton and its residents for supporting community recycling and helping give these materials another life! ♻️

🌎 PCI Environmental Hosts Environmental Day for Pre-K Students 🐟♻️🐕

On Tuesday, August 18, PCI Environmental Programs hosted an Environmental Day for students from the Fred L. McGhee Early Learning Center Pre-K Program!

The children enjoyed:

🐟 Exploring a fish touch tank
📚 Story time and coloring activities about recycling and W***y Wotko
♻️ An interactive recycling game
🐕 Meeting a cattle-herding dog brought by Jessica Ascott with the Natural Resources Conservation Service

It was a wonderful day filled with hands-on learning, curiosity and fun! PCI Environmental Programs appreciates everyone who helped provide these young learners with a memorable introduction to recycling, animals and environmental stewardship. 💚
