📣 Attention Rising Juniors & Seniors!

Applications are now open for the Chamber Ambassador Program!

This year, we're bringing our youth leadership efforts together by combining our Youth Leadership Atmore and Chamber Ambassador programs into one program. By combining the two, students will have even more opportunities to develop leadership skills, serve their community, and connect with local businesses and leaders.

The Chamber Ambassador Program is open to 11th and 12th grade students who are ready to grow as leaders and make a difference in our community.

If you're interested, we encourage you to apply! You can download an application using the link below or stop by the Chamber office to pick one up.

We can't wait to welcome our next class of Chamber Ambassadors!

Youth Leadership Atmore traveled to Montgomery yesterday, where we had the opportunity to tour the Capitol and sit in on legislative sessions in both the House and Senate. We were able to hear debates and see firsthand how a bill moves through the process.

We are so thankful to Casey Rogers for taking time out of her busy schedule to meet with our group, provide encouragement, and even offer job shadowing opportunities for those interested in a future in politics.

A big thank you as well to Chamber Board President Tripp Ward for helping organize this trip and for sharing your valuable insight with our students!

Today, YLA had their First Responders/Law Day, and what an incredible experience it was!

We started at the Atmore Police Department, where we learned firsthand what crime scene investigators do. We discovered that the job requires a lot of math, attention to detail, and patience. We walked through real case scenarios and saw how investigators carefully document evidence, collect small pieces over time, and store them until the full picture comes together. We also learned about the narcotics unit and saw some of their equipment in action. One of the best pieces of advice we were given was, “If you don’t give something the opportunity to happen, it won’t.”

Next, we visited the Poarch Band of Creek Indians Fire Station, where we got a behind-the-scenes look at what it truly means to be a firefighter. We toured the station, tried on the gear to feel the weight firefighters carry, and learned how each truck is specially equipped for different types of emergencies. We talked about the intense training required, not just for fires but also for medical emergencies, with some team members certified as paramedics. We also gained insight into the unique 24-on, 48-off schedule and what it’s like to spend one-third of your life serving your community.

We are so thankful for the time and knowledge both departments shared with us today!

Atmore offers many career opportunities, and today our YLA group had the chance to visit some of the key industries in our area.

We kicked off the morning with a tour of FNB&Trust, where we took an in-depth look at how a bank operates. Several department heads took time to share their roles and explain how each part works together to keep the bank running successfully.

Next, we headed to Boxcar Willie Park, where Mr. Eric from Grateful Garcia Farm spoke with us about the importance of fresh, locally grown, and sourced foods. His family started their own farm and now often enjoys meals made entirely from food grown on their land.

Our final stop was Wind Creek Atmore, where we enjoyed lunch at The Market thanks to Wind Creek Hospitality. We toured several of the villas and one of the corner suites, which gave us an even greater appreciation for the level of quality, attention to detail, and guest experience happening right here in Atmore. From the spa to the entertainment center, it was impressive to see how many career paths and opportunities exist within one operation.

It was a wonderful day of learning, and we truly appreciate everyone who took the time to share their industries and experiences with our group.
