Five Iowa counties celebrated the official launch of the Thrive Iowa initiative last week and one word was prevalent among the speakers at each celebration: Together.

The communities within Black Hawk, Cass, Lee, Warren and Webster Counties will indeed be working together as they look to curb some alarming issues of poverty, child care, food insecurity, transportation and other areas of need in Iowa's hardest-hit regions.

Thrive Iowa is a new initiative designed to strengthen connections between healthcare providers, schools, nonprofits, businesses, faith communities, and other local partners to better support individuals and families in our community.

Community stakeholders, employers, nonprofit organizations, faith communities, educational institutions, and local leaders are encouraged to attend and learn how we can work together to create stronger pathways for Cass County families.

With many of our families, coping with mental health challenges is a daily battle. We are excited to to see community partners attend Advanced Crisis De-Escalation Training to better improve their skills and provide more supports to our Thrive families.

We had a fun and productive week. Thank you to our client, Iowa Primary Care Association, for allowing us to put on another SP+ Advanced Deescalation Training for crisis care providers in Iowa and Nebraska. We appreciate the Council Bluffs Police Department for hosting this training at their wonderful facility. The participants in the class were engaged and enthusiastic. We are grateful!

The Thrive Iowa coordinators all met today at the Department of Heath and Human Services under the shadow of the Iowa capitol building in Des Moines. We spoke with the Thrive Iowa state leadership team and members of Restore Hope about some of the key takeaways from our monthly alliance meetings. From our expert panelists who've volunteered their time to speak to our audiences who share engaging insights and ideas, we value and appreciate your commitment and dedication to our communities.
