The Asbury Park Police Athletic League's mission is to foster positive relationships between law enforcement and youth by encouraging them to reach their full potential through safe, fun sports and enrichment programs. Asbury Park Police Athletic League's is a non-profit organization that helps enrich the lives and nurture young people (aged 8-18) by promoting character development and improving educational outcomes through sports and educational programs.

What a day for our PAL/NJ Dream youth basketball program! 🏀

We had hard-fought games today, finishing with 2 wins and 2 losses, but the scoreboard only tells part of the story. Our athletes showed incredible grit, dedication, teamwork, and pride every time they stepped on the court. They competed with heart and represented our program the right way from start to finish.

A huge thank you to our coaches for their unwavering dedication and commitment to helping these young athletes grow both on and off the court. Your time, leadership, and passion continue to make a lasting impact on this team.

We also want to thank all of the families and friends who came out to support today. The gym was filled with energy, encouragement, and loud cheers that motivated our players all day long. Your support means everything!

We’re proud to celebrate an incredible showing at the 2026 National PAL Mentor Conference in Washington, DC (May 6–9)! 🎉

Our team had the opportunity to learn about innovative programs, connect with PAL chapters from across the country, and bring back fresh ideas to strengthen and grow our impact right here in our community.

A special congratulations to our own Lorinette Britt-Murray, who was honored as the 2026 National PAL "Volunteer of the Year" Award after 28 years of unwavering commitment. Her impact has been especially meaningful through the Sister Circle Leadership Committee by empowering and guiding young girls to grow into confident leaders.

We also celebrate one of our outstanding youth members, Michelle, who was recognized for her 5-year journey with PAL. From participant to mentor, she now inspires the next generation and truly represents what PAL is all about.

Moments like these remind us that PAL is more than a program, it’s a community, a family, and a pathway to leadership.

Asbury Park PAL & NJ Dream partnership kicked off the regular season this past weekend with an exciting 43–30 win. The team showed incredible heart, dedication, and true sportsmanship from start to finish. Their teamwork on and off the court made all the difference, and it was great to see their hard work pay off. A big thank you to our dedicated coaching staff, who spend countless hours training, guiding, and supporting these athletes. This is just the beginning, let’s keep it going!

Luis Cruz-Arellano of the Asbury Park PAL Boxing Club scored an impressive split decision victory on May 2, 2026, at the Cinco de Mayo Fights hosted by Gleason’s Gym Jersey Shore. Entering the bout with a 0-1 record at 132 lbs, Luis faced Celvin Asturias of Juice Boxx Boxing Gym, a heavier (135 lbs) and more experienced opponent.

Luis came out sharp in the opening round, establishing his jab to the head and body while navigating his opponent’s counterpunching and physical pressure. The second round was fast-paced, with both fighters exchanging combinations, but Luis’s conditioning and preparation began to shine as he landed the more effective shots. In a gritty final round, Luis took control with relentless combinations and strong ring generalship, wearing his opponent down.

After three action-packed rounds, Luis earned a well-deserved split decision win in the red corner. Congratulations Luis! We are very proud of your dedication and hard work.

Over the past few months, the Asbury Park Police Athletic League has been expanding its impact beyond the game; bringing team building, leadership, and life skills training into all of our youth sports programs.

Our dedicated PAL volunteers are more than coaches. They’re mentors, advisors, and role models who help guide and support the young people in our community every day.

We’re proud to continue evolving and innovating, ensuring our programs provide meaningful, positive experiences for Asbury Park’s youth, both on and off the field.

Gloves down, smiles up! 🥊🎉

Last week we celebrated one of our amazing youth boxers on their birthday, and it was a knockout kind of day! The team came together to enjoy some well-earned pizza 🍕 and cake 🎂, sharing laughs and making memories outside the ring.

Moments like these are what our program is all about. We are not just building strong athletes. We are building friendships, leadership skills, and a true sense of team & family. Celebrating each other’s milestones reminds our boxers that they’re part of something bigger than themselves.

Last month, our incredible PAL youth showed up with heart, compassion, and purpose at the 2026 Night Without A Bed fundraiser in Fort Monmouth. đź’™

This powerful event shines a light on youth homelessness, an issue that affects far too many young people in our communities. By stepping outside their comfort zones and participating, our youth not only raised awareness but also stood in solidarity with those facing housing insecurity.

We are so proud of their leadership, empathy, and commitment to making a difference. Together, we are building a future where every young person has a safe place to call home.

We would also like to thank everyone who donated and supported our PAL youth in their fundraising endeavors, especially Asbury Park PBA Local #6 for their generous donation!
