Asbury Park Environmental and Shade Tree Commission The ESTC meets once a month on the 3rd Tuesday at 7PM in the City Council chambers or if necessary the City Managers Conference Room. All are welcomed.

After touring all the gardens earlier today, it is clear you deserve a break. The heat has been unending and the gardens are in good shape. On Saturday there will be some deadheading needed but that can wait until then. Enjoy tomorrow and thanks for all you do.

Volunteers,

Saturday's ESTC Greening will be reminiscent of a childhood game called "Eenie, Meenie, Miny, Mo" but which means "Gratitude - Bangs Ave, Merchants -Cookman and Main, Civil War - Grandd and Cookman, Kite Lake Ave" or "G,M,C,K"...all of which need some extra mulch to keep our w**d population under control. Volunteers will begin at Gratitude at 8:00 AM and finish up at Kite at 10:00 AM.
Since time, tide and w**ds wait for no one, the Greening will be a rain or shine event.

Volunteers,

Thank you for your sweaty labors last Saturday at the Gratitude Garden. There are only a few spots that need mulching so that will be taken care of later this week.

Tomorrow's Greening (7/12/2023 from 8-10 AM) will begin at the new Kite Garden on east of the Children's Garden on Lake Ave and will move westward toward the Pollinator Garden. Though a pallet (75 bags) of mulch arrived at the DPW yesterday, thankfully the Lake Ave gardens only need superficial w**ding and in true fashion some mulching as well.

Volunteers,

Summer heat is upon us and it's making the life of APESTC Volunteer gardeners heavy duty. Beginning tomorrow (Saturday, July 8, 2023), Greenings will begin at 8:00 AM and end at 10 AM. The "Friends of APESTC.org" will also provide cold water and Gatorade throughout the Greening. Hot drinks will be available thanks to the APESTC's Mother Superior.

At last Wednesday's Greening, the Gratitude Garden received all our attention and we left 8 large bags of w**ds behind. Yet, there is a bit more w**ding to be done and a lot of mulching to ensure our w**ding days will be lessened significantly.

Wednesday's ESTC Greening (6/28/23 - 9-11 AM) will be the Civil War Garden on Cookman and Grand Avenues. Weeding, mulching and planting will be the morning's tasks.

Tomorrow's Greening 6/21/23 - 9-11 AM will begin at the Butterfly Garden on 5th Ave where some minor w**ding is needed. From there we will move to the Civil War Garden on Grand and Cookman Aves.
