Happy Birthday to brilliant singer songwriter Harry Chapin who saw hunger and poverty as an insult to America! He and Bill Ayers co-founded organization World Hunger Year in the 70s and they are still doing brilliant things in the world of ending food insecurity across the globe.

While SNAP benefits will be covered through October at the moment, any lengthy shutdown will very seriously affect those enrolled in the program. Federally funded school meal programs will suffer, as will those funded by nonprofits who will soon find themselves overwhelmed with trying to provide for the shortage of food at home and school.

"The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children, or which is for nearly 7 million mothers and children, would see an IMMEDIATE reduction in benefits"

The number of services and employee salaries that will be affected is devastating. This government shut down cannot happen in an already unstable economy.

Contact your state representatives and tell them you expect them to do their jobs!!

Federal functions deemed non-essential could be suspended, affecting Social Security and Medicare, SNAP benefits and more.

Happy 18th birthday to us! What started as a bunch of volunteers/friends spread out all over North America collecting canned goods at shows turned into an organization that collected enough donations to feed thousands and thousands and THOUSANDS of people while also helping create the blueprint for cause related tabling and action work in the concert industry.

We have a fun announcement coming for Fall *and* summer ‘22. In the meantime, THANK YOU for being a part of our family and all you’ve done to help change the course of hunger in North America.

What a joy to see our current administration taking the needs of food insecure Americans seriously!

The plan will provide up to 34 million children about $375 each to buy food for the roughly 10 weeks they are out of school in the summer. That's when impoverished children have long struggled with hunger, as free or reduced-price lunch school programs that guarantee meals don't operate then. This enrollment is automatic, but check on your neighbors and make sure to share this news that will undoubtedly be a great relief to many.

We're holding George Floyd's family and community in our hearts today. Remember that while accountability is an important start, it is not justice. George Floyd still alive for his family, that would be true justice.
