Lost Dutchman Kennel Club Gazehound Gala and Scenthound Scentsational will be held during the Heart of the Desert Classic, February 7, 2027, at the Arizona State Fairgrounds. These events continue to be welcomed by exhibitors and LDKC is thrilled to be able to offer them through the generosity of exhibitors who provide funding for awards. It's not too late to add a supporter's name to the event. If you would like to donate toward the cost of holding these Special Attractions, please contact Phyl through sending a message on Facebook.

What are Prospectors, and why are they such an important part of Apache Junction’s history? 🏜️

In the late 1860s, prospectors searched for gold near the base of the Superstition Mountain. By the 1880s, they were working small gold outcrops in and around Goldfield Wash (Weekes Wash). These early adventurers left a lasting mark on our community.

That legacy lives on today in places like Prospector Park and in our students, the Apache Junction High School Prospectors. 🏆

The Prospector stands as a symbol of our city’s resilience and pioneering spirit, values that continue to define Apache Junction as we build for the future. 🌟
