We're happy to share our 2026 Women of Achievement Awardees! These ten impressive women join an academy of 360+ others who have trail blazed women's leadership in Alaska.

Without their hard work, the path would be tumultuous for our younger generations. While there is still work to be done, the path is nicely paved for others coming up behind.

Keep on the lookout as we share more about each awardee, about the luncheon (tickets are on sale - get yours today!), and the legacy this academy is living.

Jason Norris has served as a quiet but fierce volunteer for YWCA Alaska since early 2024. His dedicated to diversity, equity, and unquestionable inclusion drives his work with us and in other passions of his life.

YWCA Alaska does not always award the "Ambassador Award" for a Women of Achievement event but when they do, it's for good reason: the person is usually an ally and actively living the mission.

Dr. Robin Bronen is an award-winning internationally-recognized human rights attorney. She is the co-founder and, for 19 years, had served as the executive director of the Alaska Institute for Justice (AIJ), a non-profit organization and human rights law firm located on Dena’ina lands and in Anchorage, Alaska. Since Dr. Bronen co-founded AIJ, the non-profit has provided critical services to thousands of Alaskans. The Alaska Immigration Justice Project alone has assisted over 7,000 individuals and families from countries around the world (including Honduras, Gambia, North Korea, Senegal, Afghanistan, Ukraine and many more).

Robin has provided excellent and wise guidance to help me build my capacity and advance my career in the area of climate justice, and has been a strong advocate in advancing me from the position of staff attorney to Director of the Alaska Climate Justice Program.” Sheryl Musgrove

Dr. Stephanie Eklund is a dedicated and compassionate OB-GYN provider who has offered more than three decades of personalized care to Alaskans. As a skilled physician at Southcentral Foundation, she has been a strong advocate for wellness across the lifespan, focusing on treatment, prevention and health education.

Protecting dignity has been a top priority, including helping each woman feel believed and heard. Dr. Eklund has worked with thousands of survivors as they navigate social services, after care, and the legal system. Countless lives (especially women’s and children's) have been, and continue to be, positively impacted because of Dr. Eklund’s profound understanding of women’s physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional needs.

For this final in July, we would like to know what your reflections were for July and Patriotism? Our leadership volunteers shared their thoughts of cautious hope to deep seeded concern for the future of our country. The overall theme though? Hope. There is still hope for something better, something great. We just need to fight for it.

Minoo has been committed to supporting and empowering people of all ages within the Anchorage community for decades. As an elementary school teacher for over three decades, Minoo sparked curiosity and fostered growth mindsets in children. As an ASD Resource Teacher, she provided desperately needed support and guidance to some of the most vulnerable children and their families in her schools across the district. She worked to advocate for and represent students whose families were new to the country and didn’t have the resources to do so on their own. After her retired from the Anchorage School District, she continued this spirit of advocacy and focus on supporting the most vulnerable in numerous ways. She is constantly volunteering her time supporting families in need, guiding people to new resources, advocating for the rights of those whose voices are often unheard and unrepresented, and pushing our community to better support families of all types. Minoo embodies the missions and values of YWCA in numerous ways, which anyone who knows her can attest to.

Linda started out at Carlisle Transportation Systems as a secretary and 30 years later was partner. Leading a massive team of over 700 mostly male employees provided more challenges than opportunities but because of Linda’s amazingly positive mindset, it was nothing but a learning experience and experiment that she shares with everyone else. Like many women in Alaska working in any industry, you start from several spaces behind a white male in the same field. She was fortunate to have male supporters to guide her but she largely had to navigate this space on her own. That’s why she finds it so rewarding now to share this experience: because she had no one then to come to.

Now Linda owns and manages Fishe Wear, a fly fishing clothing company for women. She wanted to create functional fashion for all women of all kinds and body types. This functional fashion is now nation wide. Linda also shares her love of fly fishing with anyone she meets, eliminating barriers wherever she can.
