Alaska is home to 229 federally recognized tribes, and Alaska Native workers, leaders, and union members are part of the backbone of our state and our movement.

We're proud to stand in solidarity today and every day. 🤝

Not everyone wants to hear this. But the ballot box can undo what workers win at the bargaining table.

That's why union members show up in politics. We'd rather just bargain contracts and serve our members. But if we don't protect our rights in Juneau and D.C., we can lose them fast.

Workers build the wealth.
Workers deserve the leverage.
Solidarity is how we keep it. 💪

Incredible news coming out of Fairbanks. Last night, the FBSB Assembly passed a Community Workforce Agreement ordinance 7–2!

This ordinance didn't pass by chance. The Fairbanks labor community has spent years electing pro-labor candidates for public office. After electing them, they mobilized to get this important policy across the finish line. ✊

Heidi Drygas, president of the Alaska AFL-CIO, said that while she sees the lifting of the hiring freeze as “a step in the right direction,” it doesn’t fix pre-existing problems in state agencies.

A new administrative order reversed freezes imposed in May 2025 amid fiscal concerns; the Iran war has boosted state revenue.
