📊 July 2026 Data Byte: Another strong month for Alaska families!

This July, Help Me Grow Alaska connected with 240 families — a 20% jump from July 2025. That growth means more families across the state are finding their way to us, whether it's a first call or someone reaching back out because they knew we'd be here. In fact, 97 of those 240 families had connected with us before.

Some highlights from the month:

🗣️ 198 cases closed, with 159 families successfully linked to the services they needed
📞 2,109 interactions and nearly 12,000 minutes spent on the phone and in conversation with families and providers
📍 Support reached families in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, Kenai, Kodiak, Mat-Su, North Slope, Sitka, and beyond

Behavior, mental health, and neuropsych evaluations remained the top reasons families called this month — a reminder of how much Alaska families are navigating, and how much they're showing up for their kids by reaching out.

Every number here represents a parent who picked up the phone, a provider who made a referral, or a family who trusted us to help them find the next step. That's the work. đź’™

Not sure where to start? That's what we're here for.

A health care provider in the Bristol Bay region told us something simple but telling: she'd had to put her six-month-old in size 6 diapers because infant sizes just weren't available—and wouldn't be restocked for a long time. She ended up flying size 3 diapers in from Anchorage, at real cost and real hassle.

That conversation is exactly why A2P2 shows up in communities across Alaska. Once we heard her story, we connected her with local partners, and Dillingham is now building its first diaper pantry for families in need.

This is what partnership looks like in practice — showing up, listening, and helping communities find their own solutions. Read more in our Impact Report: https://a2p2.org/about-us/

⏰ One Week Left: Call for Presenters Closes July 31

Got something to share about pediatric care in Alaska? Now's the time.

We're heading into the final week for proposals to present at the 2026 All Alaska Pediatric Symposium, happening November 13–14 in Anchorage. If you've been meaning to submit but haven't gotten to it yet, this is your nudge.

We want to hear from clinicians, researchers, educators, public health professionals, and community partners — whether you're bringing new research, a program that's working, practical tools others could use, or lessons learned the hard way. If it touches pediatric health here in Alaska, it belongs in this conversation.

Submissions close July 31.

“I felt like they knew exactly what to do to provide help for my child." — a parent's words about our Help Me Grow Alaska team.

Our new Impact Report shares a story about a mom in a rural Alaska community who thought she just needed diapers — and didn't yet know her baby had complex medical needs requiring urgent coverage. Her Family Support Specialist helped her understand what came next and connected her to the right people.

This is what the work looks like, day to day. Read more: https://a2p2.org/about-us/

Our hearts are broken. Our organization has experienced an unimaginable loss with the passing of our team member and friend, Donna Reisinger, in a car accident, earlier this week.

Donna joined A2P2 in January 2024 as our Communications & Training Coordinator, and she brought so much heart into everything and everyone she touched here. The impact she left on A2P2 and on us all will never be forgotten - she was a person made up of kindness, generosity, enthusiasm, contagious silliness, and she will be sorely missed.

We are still finding the words for all she meant to us and holding her family close as they bravely stand by their young child who was injured as well.

We are learning of just how many people in Alaska and beyond are feeling this tremendous loss, and how similarly they experienced Donna as the wonderful person she was. We're taking some comfort in witnessing the love and support Donna's family has been shown by everyone around them.

More to come soon on how you can support Donna's family during this time.

Update: Many have asked us to share ways to support Donna's husband and son. A GoFund Me campaign has been set up by the family: https://gofund.me/6fc7c91ca
