Utah High School Mountain Biking Affiliate League to National Interscholastic Cycling Association

The Utah High School Cycling League is the largest league in the nation with 1576 9th-12th grade student athletes and 806 7th-8th grade student athletes participating on 80 teams across the state. The league was organized in 2011 under the National Interscholastic Cycling Association, a 501(c)3 non profit organization. We facilitate the development of high school cycling teams/clubs for grades 7 – 12 and provide the education, training, licensing and insurance for coaches and volunteers. We also provide a high-quality mountain bike racing experience, while emphasizing the value of each participant (no bench) and placing camaraderie, positive sporting behavior and the cultivation of health over competition.

Hey Utah riders,

We’ve got something special happening at Soldier Hollow this September: we’re inviting you to join us on course at the UCI Whoop World Cup!

On Saturday, September 19th, after elite riders like Haley Batten and Chris Blevens tackle the World Cup short track, our Utah athletes will take over the trail for a High School Exhibition Short Track race.

Same course as the pros - now it’s your turn to race on a world stage, try something new, and have a blast doing it! The emphasis is on fun, learning, and the experience rather than the results.

What’s short track?
Our league mostly races traditional “cross country” – long courses that test your endurance over 45 to 90 minutes. Short track (XCC) is a different beast. It’s about 20 minutes of all-out effort on a quick, punchy loop: fast, full of energy, AND perfect for spectating.

How do I sign up?
We’re opening registration TOMORROW, Thursday August 13, at 8AM. Choose the category that most closely matches your Utah High School Cycling League category and where you’ll feel confident and comfortable racing.

Heads up: this is a race to register, first come, first served. Spots are limited, and once they’re gone, they’re gone. If you’re stoked – set an alarm, save this email, and be ready! Be sure to read all about the event before you register. (Sales will show as “closed” until we open reg tomorrow).

On behalf of the Utah High School Cycling League, we’d like to extend a warm invitation to riders, their families, and our coaches, to join us for an unforgettable weekend at the 2026 WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series at Soldier Hollow, Utah, September 19th–20th, 2026.

This world-class event will bring the best mountain bike athletes in the world to Utah, and we’d love for our athletes to be part of the excitement. From elite racing and fan experiences to the incredible atmosphere that only mountain biking can create, this will be a weekend to remember.

The Utah High School Cycling League has partnered with event organizers to offer a 20% discount on general admission tickets for NICA riders and their families. Please contact your head coach to get the discount code.

The Utah High School Cycling League has launched a new app that allows high school teams to log their riding locations and times. Anyone can sign up for view-only access to see where and when the teams will be throughout Utah. To join, visit https://trailsync.org

Tip: You can set filters for your favorite trails.

Keep in mind that this is a new system for the teams, so it may take a few weeks for them to log all their activities.
