It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Terry Yoder, a longtime MDNA member of Yoder Machinery Sales, who passed away early Friday, October 2.
Terry is survived by his wife, Erika; their three children, Jordan (Matthew) Sandretto, Whitney (Tyler) Hogrefe, and Cody (Victoria) Yoder; grandchildren Margaux, Jett, Cole, and Callen; and his mother, Marylin Yoder.
Yoder Machinery Sales, formerly Yoder Machinery Company, was started in 1957 by Terry’s father, Lowell. As shared in Terry’s obituary: “Buying and selling metal working machines was in Terry’s blood; it was the work he knew from the day he was born and loved until his last earthly day. Going to work was his ‘therapy,’ especially when health issues struck. In 2019, Terry became the sole owner.”
Yoder Machinery Sales joined MDNA in 1990, and Terry served both the Detroit/Toledo Chapter and MDNA at the national level from 1999 until his passing. That represents more than 25 years of dedicated service to his MDNA family.
Terry served as Chapter Board Representative, Director at Large, MDNA Treasurer, and Presidential Appointee.
Terry was a passionate supporter of the Austin D. Lucas Scholarship Fund. Terry initiated a trivia game for the MDNA board to donate money towards scholarship. Due to his fundraising efforts, the MDNA board has donated over $10,000 and established two Trusts. That is a tradition sure to continue in his honor.
For his hard work and dedication, Terry received the MDNA Leadership Award in 2012. In 2023, he was awarded the Jean A. Harris Sr. Award, presented in recognition of his outstanding philanthropic contributions and efforts on behalf of the Austin D. Lucas Scholarship Fund and MDNA.
Terry will be deeply missed by all who knew him and by those who knew of his many contributions to MDNA and the metalworking machinery industry.
