We would like to welcome Matthew Salsberg to our team! Matthew started in mid-September and is our new Food Services Coordinator. He has been a valuable addition to the team already.

When asked was his responsibilities are in the Pantry, he simply stated, "My job is to serve our people!" Included in this is that he assists Marcia with the many programs the Pantry has to offer and coordinates the daily operations of it. In addition, he fills daily orders, does deliveries and pickups of food and supplies, and more.

Matthew is an avid volunteer in our community and has a strong commitment to his faith and his church, as he is a member of the Akron Bible Church.

And he is a HUGE fan of all the Cleveland sports teams! He proudly wears the shirts of all of them to work, especially after big wins!

❤️ The holiday season is just around the corner, and The Salvation Army of Summit County is here to help bring hope, joy, and Christmas cheer to local families in need!

We will be accepting applications for our 2026 Christmas Assistance Program on Tuesday, October 13th!

📍 Location: 190 S. Maple Street, Akron, OH 44302

⏰ Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📋 WHAT TO BRING:
• Photo ID
• Proof of current address
• Proof of all children in the household, including ages

We’re so proud of our team.

When crisis hits OPEN M’s doors our team joins hands to wrap love around the person needing help. This day was a little different we had the honor to join hands with APD Officer Motil. Thank you OPEN M Team and Officer Motil for giving this man his dignity back.

Akron police officers respond to hundreds of calls and community interactions every day. While many involve crime investigations or arrests, others are quieter acts of service that can have a lasting impact.

“I’m always busy with my practice, but I think you can always carve time to allow yourself to help others”. Dr. Rachel Espiritu, Summa Health.

We’re seeking volunteer medical professionals, just like Dr. Rachel. The need is great right now for those people who are working hard in their jobs, but are unable to afford health insurance.

A four-hour shift, once or twice a month can make a big difference.
We are looking especially for General/Family Medicine doctors and nurse practitioners, and dental professionals. Contact Shannon Barney, Director of Medical Services for more information on how you can volunteer. [email protected]

We are proud to be a part of the Hope and Healing Scavenger Hunt for the month of October during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Stop by our office and the other locations to pick up your Trick or Treat Passport and get it stamped. You will also be able to receive some resources, get a piece of candy at each of the locations,ons and find the purple pumpkin.

We are honored to be a part of this program along with the other participating organizations in our community.
