They learned through the Seacor disaster that finding individuals lost at sea is extremely difficult and too often unsuccessful. That the vast majority o

f offshore workers are not provided life saving PLBs-personal locator beacons by the companies they work for, to wear while they are in transport by boat and on locations working offshore, and the devices are cost prohibitive for many individual workers. PLBs work by sending a signal within seconds of being activated to a network of search and rescue satellites that notify search and rescue operations, such as the US Coast Guard, of the person's GPS location. Until the day that offshore companies are mandated or choose to afford these life saving devices, Jason's Beacon, through your generous donations, plans to buy and gift them to US offshore workers and encourage them to wear them at all times because we think their life is worth it.
