The City of Ada was honored to welcome Mr. Kazuhiko Kobayashi, Council Member of the Yasu District of Kunigami Village, Okinawa, Japan. Our communities share the name "Ada" creating a unique connection that inspired this special visit. Mr. Kobayashi presented a beautiful collection of Origami Yambaru Kuina birds, each lovingly folded by visitors to the Yambaru Kuina Ecological Exhibition and Learning Facility as a symbol of friendship, hope, and a shared commitment to protecting nature. We are grateful for this meaningful exchange and look forward to the possibility of a lasting friendship between our communities.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone in our community who came to City Hall to help welcome Mr. Kobayashi and his friends! Your warm hospitality made his visit even more special, and we truly appreciate everyone who joined us.

Governor Bill Anoatubby has announced that he will retire from his role as Governor of the Chickasaw Nation, effective June 26. Governor Anoatubby has served as the 32nd Governor of the Chickasaw Nation since 1987, leading a period of remarkable growth, investment, and opportunity for the Chickasaw people and communities across Oklahoma.

"I have decided it is time to retire and entrust leadership to a new generation of dedicated and capable leaders. I will, therefore, resign as Governor," Anoatubby posted on Facebook.

The economic impact of Governor Anoatubby’s leadership has been transformative. From healthcare and education to economic development and community investment, the Chickasaw Nation’s influence can be felt throughout Oklahoma and especially here in Ada. Projects with the Oka' Institute, the recently announced pediatric clinic expansion, and countless other initiatives have strengthened our community and improved quality of life for residents throughout the region.

We congratulate Governor Anoatubby on an extraordinary legacy of service and leadership. We also look forward to working with Lieutenant Governor Chris Anoatubby as he assumes the role of Governor and continues advancing the Chickasaw Nation’s vision for the future.
