We have many underprivileged young children both regulars and special needs who are benefiting from our programs both during school and holiday time hence giving them a chance to know their universal right to education and sports hence becoming responsible citizen in the future. Below is the list of schools and communities benefiting from our programs:-
Schools,
1. St Jude Primary School
Communities,
1. Bukoto community
2. Naguru community

We hope to continue supporting more young underprivileged children both in education and sports. STRATEGY
At JCSO, we have a two stage approach and this is:
1. Sports

Education
The value of education is undisputed worldwide. However, there remain thousands of unprivileged children in most countries across the globe that are still denied the right. Uganda is one of those countries. Even with commendable efforts by the government to reduce the barriers of entry, the costs of education mean countless children still go through their childhood without going to school. Our reasoning is straightforward. We believe every child has the right to education. However, we don't just believe they have a right to any old education; they have a right to a high quality, uninterrupted and comprehensive education, hence providing the next generation with a good education and prepare Uganda for a brighter future. Sports
Sport is one of the most powerful development tools when it comes to unprivileged children. Its transformative power, its ability to unite, empower and teach makes it an invaluable aspect of any childhood when the values and lessons that come from sport are set against a backdrop of poverty and inequality they only become more critical. We put sport at the center of our work because it has the potential to change a person forever especially when it comes to unprivileged children who arecan’t get access to some of the sporting activity such as tennis, hockey, volley ball, table tennisin our African society. ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT
At JCSO we look at four program categories and these are; the Tennis (mini tennis), English language, Health, Career guidance and counseling programs. And the partnership will seek to build a foundation by working towards fulfilling our mission statement. The tennis(mini tennis) program
Some of the positives of tennis are that it offers team and individual competition as well as social activity. As a social sport, it can bring children and adults from different back grounds and areas together and its code of conduct encourages children to behave with respect towards each other. Children are prepared to “have a go” well. All young tennis players in east Africa regularly participate in training sessions to develop their strength, ability and hand eye plus ball coordination. Where these skill sets are encouraged from an early age, it will help the children who have access to a regional, district facility to quickly adapt to the game. Today the children in east Africa who play regularly are becoming strong and champions from a young age and can compete and enjoy a social game with adults as well as their peers. In these countries with a tennis history, and large number of young people with a high unemployment rate, sports such as tennis have an important role to play in the community

Mini tennis
What is mini tennis? This is a simple game of tennis that can be played anywhere by two people on a flat surface. For beginners, we need two portable stands with a string stretched between them to form a net and the children, children play with wooden bats(larger than a ping pong bat and smaller than a tennis racquet) that can be made from strong ply wood sealed and bought at a cost of several dollars. With soft or used tennis balls, this makes mini tennis accessible to children in all sorts of communities, anywhere in the country. Mini tennis can be played in the mountains, beach, small concrete, on a tennis court and the equipment is easy to transport. Mini tennis is also encouraged by the international tennis federation (ITF) as a route into tennis for young players; it helps in practicing tennis related strokes on a much smaller area. Today in Canada for instance a new game is emerging called “beach tennis” to be played on the beach. In Uganda more remote areas such as Gulu district (one of the most war affected areas) JCSO is currently introducing its programs into the schools and community and is supported by a few individuals

English language program
The Ugandan education system is very much a work in progress. In 1997, primary education became free under the Universal Primary Education (UPE) Act. In 2007. As a result, the number of children attending school has risen dramatically – yet the government’s education budget has not increased in tandem. Uganda now faces the issue of an ever increasing teacher to pupil ratio. The importance of English for education and trade purposes results in high demand for English language training throughout Uganda. More children entering education has not resulted in more teachers, additional resources or improved infrastructure. Furthermore, the expansion of the private education sector has lured the majority of skilled teachers in Uganda away from the government schools – who offer significantly low wages in comparison to private institutions. Ugandan government schools are characterized by low quality levels of teaching and severe classroom overcrowding. The outcome is that pupils receive a basic and largely fragmented educational experience. Yet, amongst all this hardship the children remain enthusiastic and willing. JCSO play an important role in providing schools with invaluable assistance. We support a range of primary schools in and around Kampala. Though English is the official language of Uganda, Luganda is the most commonly-spoken, closely followed by Swahili. Our primary role is to do a little to help provide the next generation with a good education and prepare Uganda for a brighter future. Career guidance and counseling programs
This program is a developmental process that facilitates the acquisition of attitudes, skills and knowledge to help students better understand themselves, explore practicable education and career options, make informed decisions and develop plans to achieve their career aspirations. Through the Career guidance and counseling programs, JCSO with the partnering school, we will be able to help students acquire the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to identify options, explore alternatives and succeed in society. Health program
This school health program is based on social learning theory. The program relies on existing structures, including a fulltime health educator and current teaching and health professionals. The JCSO team oversees the involvement and training of local leaders and heads of schools as well as of parents, teachers, and senior tutors. During each school term, our team visits each school to monitor the implementation of health education activities. These activities include:
• Implementing the school health curriculum
• Involving youth in forming school health clubs that sponsor competitions in plays, essays, poetry, and song on health issues
• Training peer educators and implementing one-on-one peer education on health issues
• Convening regular meetings of parents, teachers, and community leaders to discuss sexual health issues
• Weekly training of senior tutors and science teachers to improve their skills as health educators
• Senior tutors answering students' questions and providing advice to students
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
JCSO programs will provide activities, support and skill to the children to become successful in life, through education and sports. The three major components of the program are:
1. Life skills which are integrated throughout all phases of the program
2. Health education to promote healthy lifestyles and combat obesity
3. Sports(tennis) instructions where participants engage in fun physical fitness, enjoy the camaraderie of playing in a team format with friends and peers, and learn to become responsible adolescents and adults
The school program - serves many children in tennis instruction, health and life skills education for three hours. The holiday program - serves approximately fifty children and includes tennis instruction, health and life skills education for two and half hours per day every week. Participants receive tennis instruction in groups and clinic settings, and practice skills in team format play. They learn about rules of the game, protocol, sportsmanship, positive attitudes, fair play, self-esteem, taking responsibility for choices, and management of emotions. These life skills are integrated throughout the tennis program, and instructors routinely demonstrate how they apply to situations in all aspects of life. Health lifestyles are stressed both in the classroom setting and on the courts. The program is fortunate to have a corps of volunteers who are dedicated to the program and are available to work with the children on improving their academic skills and incentives are awarded to the participants based on attendance, good behavior and general attitudeThe program is fortunate to have a corps of volunteers who are dedicated to the program and are available to work with the children on improving their academic skills and incentives are awarded to the participants based on attendance, good behavior and general attitude
SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY NEED
There is a tremendous need, especially in schools and communities, for new educational programs/activities which can keep their young children from bad peer groups. Through our educational and sports approach, both the schools and communities have welcomed our program which keeps their young children busy hence increasing their academic performance, and providing life skills to ensure success in school and in the community

GET INVOLVED
In Uganda, people are faced with setbacks of war, poverty and lack of opportunities due to lack of resources denying them the chance to better education system and sports activities. Through donations of sports equipment, shoes, clothing and educational material from local individuals, clubs, schools and organizations - appeals have helped to provide unprivileged communities in Uganda (mainly Kampala) with the resources to participate in sporting and educational activities and you can also get involved in our programs through volunteering services, Corporate support from big companies, Sponsorship of schools and sponsorship of a child to stay in school - which for young people can improve their self-confidence and give inspiration for a brighter future
CONCLUSION
Out of many we are one and as one people we can achieve anything, lives can be changed and our girls will rise up and keep hope of living a better life again through sporting activities. Thanks and may the living God bless you all.
