This page helps us discuss lessons we learn from the radio drama Established in 2005, Rock Point 256 drama broadcasts a weekly episode of the radio drama aimed at driving behavior change through edutainment. Each season of the series airs 44 thirty-minute episodes with four different story lines. With an average of 7 million listeners per week Rock Point 256 is likely the most listened to radio pr

ogram in Uganda. Rock Point 256 is a virtual village, which has since upgraded to a developing town center. It’s much like any other growing town in rural Uganda, where the drama unfolds. It got its name because rocks are a very common feature of the Ugandan landscape, and because rocks are solid, firm, and steadfast. 256 is the country telephone code for Uganda, indicating the national identity of the series. The slogan for the series is "Discover the rock in you." Based on research, messages are designed to educate listeners on the following topics:

• HIV and AIDS
• Family Planning
• Sexual and Reproductive Health
• Malaria
• Nutrition
• Alcohol Abuse
• Gender Based Violence
• Civic Education

Media Campaigns
Rock Point 256 has over the years contained campaigns in different thematic areas such as Alcohol, Be a man, Something for something love and Violence against women among others. The serial drama is produced in English, Luganda, Runyankole/Rukiga/Runyoro/Rutoro and Luo

Listening Groups
The Rock Point 256 team frequently meets with listening and discussion groups. Together the group listens to a Rock Point 256 episode and discusses the lessons presented during that episode. CDFU has provided the listening groups with discussion guides. The discussions guides are specifically designed to support the groups have meaningful and guided discussions. The guides also promote group and individual activities, which reflect the lessons intended in the episodes. At the next meeting, group members are encouraged to share experiences that could have resulted from listening to and discussing the previous episode of Rock Point 256.
