Celebrating World Nurses Day 2026:

A Joint Tribute from Patient Safety Action Network,- Sierra Leone and World Patients Alliance

On the occasion of International Nurses Day 2026, the Patient Safety Action Network - Sierra Leone (PSAN-SL) and the World Patients Alliance (WPA) join the global community in honoring the extraordinary dedication, compassion, and resilience of nurses.

This year’s theme, "Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives," resonates deeply with our shared mission to ensure safe, high-quality healthcare for every patient. Nurses are the heartbeat of the healthcare system—often the first point of contact and the most consistent presence at a patient's side.

In Sierra Leone and across the globe, nurses are more than just caregivers; they are advocates for patient safety, leaders in clinical excellence, and the bridge between medical technology and human comfort. Their empowerment is not just a professional necessity but a fundamental requirement for a sustainable and safe healthcare future.

Our Shared Commitment
As organizations dedicated to patient safety and advocacy, we recognize that:
Empowered Nurses lead to better clinical outcomes and reduced medical errors.
Investing in Nursing is an investment in the health and safety of our communities.
Patient Safety is intrinsically linked to the well-being and professional support of the nursing workforce.

Today, we say thank you to the nurses in Sierra Leone and worldwide. Your hands heal, your voices advocate, and your presence provides hope. We stand with you today and every day as we work together toward a future where healthcare is safe for all.

Happy International Nurses Day!
