Ansu Kandeh: Academic Journey with RACHEL
My name is Ansu Kandeh, a proud product of RACHEL (Remote Area Community Hotspot for Education and Learning), and I am from Kabala, Koinadugu District, Northern Sierra Leone. I began benefiting from the RACHEL server at the age of 11, in Grade 7. From that early age, I would eagerly request any available client device from Mr. Samuel Momoh whenever I visited the RACHEL learning center, determined to access its resources for research and learning (see attached photo).
The RACHEL server provided me with essential educational tools, including Khan Academy, CK12, Practical Action, Wikihow, GCF LearnFree, and Wikipedia, which were instrumental in my research, learning, and exam preparation. These resources enabled me to excel consistently in both internal and external examinations, laying a strong foundation for my academic career.
Beyond academics, RACHEL inspired me to become an accomplished orator and debater, representing my school and winning multiple awards and competitions. My regular visits to the RACHEL lab to engage with TED Talks broadened my worldview, strengthened my communication skills, and contributed significantly to my personal growth.
Following my successful completion of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), I gained university admission, where I pursued and completed a Bachelorβs Degree in Political Science and Law, graduating with First-Class Honors. Even during university, I continued to benefit from RACHEL whenever I returned home to Kabala during holidays, keeping me intellectually sharp and well-prepared for each academic year.
I now aspire to pursue a Postgraduate Degree in Sustainable Development, with the goal of contributing meaningfully to the growth and development of my community and country.
Funding Request
To achieve this goal, I am seeking financial support to:
1. Enroll in a top-tier postgraduate program to gain advanced knowledge and skills in sustainable development.
2. Conduct research and projects that directly benefit underserved communities in Sierra Leone.
3. Leverage my education to create practical, long-term solutions for local and national development challenges.
Your support will empower me to continue my educational journey and make a lasting impact on my community and country. I am fully committed to using this opportunity to drive positive change and am happy to provide any additional information or documentation to support this request.
Sincerely,
Ansu Kandeh.
