The Patriotic Empowerment Network Sierra Leone (PEN-SiL) is pleased to have participated in the Epilepsy Training organised by Epilepsy Warriors of Sierra Leone on Sunday, 11th October 2026.

This engagement reflects our commitment to promoting health awareness, breaking stigma, encouraging inclusivity, and supporting initiatives that improve lives. Together, we can build a society where people living with epilepsy are understood, supported, and treated with dignity.

We are grateful to Epilepsy Warriors of Sierra Leone for this initiative and remain committed to supporting efforts that advance health education and public health advocacy across Sierra Leone.

PEN-SiL PARTICIPATES IN THE WALK FOR NATIONAL GIRLS SUMMIT 2026

The Patriotic Empowerment Network Sierra Leone (PEN-SiL) successfully participated in the Walk for National Girls Summit 2026, joining young people, advocates, development partners, and community members in a solidarity walk from Miatta Conference Centre, Youyi Building, to the Aberdeen Beach Turn Table.

Held under the theme “Our Power in Action: Protecting Our Future,” the walk amplified voices for the protection, empowerment, and advancement of girls. PEN-SiL’s participation reaffirmed its commitment to youth engagement, gender equality, safeguarding girls’ rights, and building safer, more inclusive communities across Sierra Leone.

The activity also demonstrated the power of collective action and partnerships in driving social change and building momentum for the National Girls Summit 2026.

PEN-SiL Joins Regional Youth Convening on Health and Development in Freetown

Freetown, Sierra Leone — The Patriotic Empowerment Network Sierra Leone (PEN-SiL) has participating in the ongoing SWAG Regional Youth Convening on Health and Development, a two-day regional engagement bringing together young people and stakeholders from across West and Central Africa.

The convening, hosted by the Stand With A Girl (SWAG) Initiative, is being held from 16–17 September 2026 in Abuja, Nigeria, under the theme, “Policy pathways, regional solutions, and co-investment for lasting adolescent gains.”

To enable young people in Sierra Leone to participate, a watch party is being hosted at the UNFPA Office, Signal Hill, Freetown.

Representing PEN-SiL at the opening and Day One session at the watch party, was Alhaji Musa Bah, Communications and Media, who actively participated in the regional discussions. PEN-SiL Founder Buya Nabie Bangura, who is participating from Nigeria, also contributed to the programme as Co-Host of Day One and a panelist during a discussion on “Bridging Generations, Systems and Investment for Adolescent Health and Development,” where he spoke on the importance of meaningful youth engagement.

Speaking about the significance of the convening, Pharm Buya described the event as “timely and informative for shaping regional solidarity in fighting existing challenges on the health and development of adolescent and young people in West and Central Africa.” He added that representing Sierra Leone at the regional platform is a huge honour, particularly through active participation in discussions shaping the future of adolescent health and development.

According to our CEO, the convening also positions Sierra Leone within critical regional conversations around improved policy pathways, regional solutions and co-investment for lasting adolescent gains. He noted that lessons and experiences from the regional engagement will be localized and shared back home to contribute to Sierra Leone’s health and development efforts.

The two-day convening brings together young people and partners to discuss adolescent health, development, intergenerational engagement, policy, systems strengthening and investment, with the aim of identifying practical approaches that can advance health and development outcomes for adolescents and young people across the region.

The watch party continues today, 17 September 2026 at the UNFPA Office, Signal Hill, Freetown.

The Patriotic Empowerment Network Sierra Leone (P.E.N-SiL) successfully participated as a partner in the Jogging for Adolescents and Youth in Health and Development Advocacy event held on 4th April 2026 at Aberdeen Beach, Freetown. The initiative brought together young people, development partners, and advocacy groups with a shared goal of promoting healthy lifestyles and raising awareness on key health issues affecting adolescents and youth.

The event commenced with a vibrant jogging session, symbolizing collective action towards improved physical and mental well-being. This was followed by a series of engaging activities including a football comic match, music performances, interview sessions, and sensitization sessions. These activities created an interactive platform for young people to learn, connect, and actively participate in health advocacy.

As a partner, PEN-SiL played a key role in supporting the engagement and amplifying awareness around sexual and reproductive health, youth empowerment, and preventive healthcare practices. Our presence contributed to strengthening partnerships and reinforcing our commitment to promoting youth-led development initiatives across Sierra Leone.

The event recorded strong participation from youths and stakeholders, reflecting a growing interest in health-focused advocacy and community-driven solutions. It also provided an opportunity for PEN-SiL to network with like-minded organizations and explore future collaborations aimed at improving the well-being of young people.

Our Team in Port Loko is always with the district stakeholders fully involved in development and advocacy efforts, this International Women’s Day activities are no exception. Miss Hawanatu Wenday Kamara, Secretary General, alongside District Focal Point, Amb. Munirr Sahid Kamara and the entire members are doing the magic.

From excitements and smiling for minutes watching the Logo of PEN SiL along with the biggest of names, to championing the course of sensitization and engagements, on and offline, this is something satisfying I must say.
