Föreningen för Judisk Kultur i Sverige är en medlemsorganisation öppen för alla som vill stödja judisk kultur i varierande uttrycksformer. Föreningen är en oberoende, opolitisk och icke-konfessionell organisation med syfte att initiera och genomföra kulturprogram som knyter an till det mångfacetterade judiska kulturarvet och judiskt tänkande. Föreningen samarbetar såväl med judiska som icke-judiska institutioner i Sverige och utomlands för att främja dialog och kreativt tänkande.

We had the privilege to collaborate with Bokförlaget Stolpe on the release of The Theresienstadt Diaries by Pavel Fischl (Gabriel Dagan). Strong conversation with history professor Malin Thor Tureby competently moderated by Mats Almegård. Michael Dagan, son of Gabriel, shared his insight and reflections as a second generation survivor growing up in Israel. Bach and Britton beautifully performed by Aleksei Kiseliov. 87 years after the Second World War and the Shoah, newly discovered and published testimonies and diaries are essential to counteracting history distortion and Holocaust inversion. There will never be too many of them, each is an entire, unique universe. Coming out of the ashes, Gabriel Dagan rebuilt his life in Israel and became a prominent playwright, screen writer, actor and psychologist. We held the Swedish premier in January 2020 and finally got a new magic opportunity. Fantastic performance of Olga Neuwirth’s music to Hans Karl Breslauer’s silent film Die Stadt ohne Juden (The City Without Jews, 1924). Based on a book by Hugo Bettauer, the film is a dystopian prophecy of intolerance that imagines and predicts the consequences of the expulsion of Jews from a city called Utopia (Vienna in the book). It is prophetic in its description of the murderous antisemitism in Vienna at the turn of the last century and at the in-between wars. Christian Karlsen brilliantly conducted Neuwirth’s poignant music with superb KammarensembleN, that together with the striking film created an unforgettable experience.
