The Swedish Rohingya Association founded in Stockholm /Sweden 2013, registered by the Swedish authorities No: 802493-8428, is a religiously and politically disengaged non-profit organization with aim to follow and inform about the situation for the Myanmar Rohingya minority Muslim group in Myanmar and in the diaspora. This people have been called by UN the 'world's most persecuted people', and th
e situation for them has long been very desperate. They have lost their citizenship due to a law of 1982, and are now considered by the legal authorities in Myanmar as illegal immigrants although they have been living in the country for hundreds of years. As a consequence up to 1,5 million have through the years fled the country and there are only some 2 million still living in their native state, the Arakan / Rakhine State of Myanmar. Still today, since some 2-3 years when the atrocities intensified anew, many are fleeing, often times across the sea, many are dying at sea, and many are captured in Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia and often being 'used' as cheap labor. Many are fleeing to Bangladesh and India and on to other countries like Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, and often times living under very severe conditions.
