STHLMNYC brings people together to learn, to discuss and to collaborate to influence the future of our cities by providing innovative solutions for the urban environment. Through semiannual seminars, STHLMNYC brings together specialists from Stockholm, New York City and beyond. The outcome of a collaboration between cities leads to new visions as they tend to be each other’s opposites and suppleme

nts, sharing the same ambitions. The active collaboration of the participating architects, urban planners and relating professions, with input and support from invited specialist, provides for a wide variety of ideas and visions that will trigger a new critical thinking in architecture. Participants of STHLMNYC learn from each other and common experiences, discuss the value of design and influence how future projects develop. STHLMNYC promotes and exposes visionary innovative projects to rethink and reformulate architecture to impact the future of our urban environment.

Yesterday's successful launch of this year's venture in New York - Swedish Design Moves New York. Christer Larsson, Kieran Long, Daniel Koch and Malin Zimm, reflected on and discussed democratic architecture.
"Democratic urban planning is complex, and difficult to define, but one thing it must fulfill is to guarantee people's well-being in everyday life, ranging from children to the elderly. Based on the Swedish intimate relationship with nature, Sweden's equality society and urban design is precisely characterized by a balance between social needs and planetary boundaries."

Join our program in New York on October 23-28.
