على مدى خمسة أيام في القاهرة، وبالشراكة مع وزارة الثقافة والإعلام والسياحة، والهيئة القومية للآثار والمتاحف، وبدعم كريم من إيطاليا، اجتمع خبراء التراث السوداني والجهات القانونية الخبراء والشركاء الدوليون حول هدفٍ عاجل واحد: حماية التراث الثقافي السوداني من النهب والضياع والاختفاء، في خطوةٍ محورية لتعزيز قدرة السودان على صون متاحفه ومواقعه الأثرية وأرشيفاته وتراثه الحي في ظل فترة من النزاع.
تركزت النقاشات على مكافحة الاتجار غير المشروع بالممتلكات الثقافية، وتعزيز الأطر القانونية، وتطوير أنظمة التوثيق والجرد، بما في ذلك توظيف الأدوات الرقمية الحديثة. كما تم التأكيد على أهمية تعزيز التنسيق بين المؤسسات الثقافية، وأجهزة إنفاذ القانون، والجمارك، والسلطات القضائية، إلى جانب الدور المحوري للمجتمعات المحلية والشباب في حماية التراث المادي وغير المادي.
ناقش 30 خبيراً 28 ورقة فنية، وأسفرت المداولات عن تحديد أولويات واضحة للعمل، شملت تعزيز إجراءات الحماية والتوثيق الطارئ، وتقوية آليات مكافحة الاتجار غير المشروع، وإنشاء قواعد بيانات وطنية آمنة ومتكاملة للتراث، وتفعيل أنظمة استجابة سريعة، ودعم المبادرات المجتمعية والشبابية، إلى جانب مساندة القطاع الإبداعي ضمن مراحل التعافي.
وتنسجم هذه المخرجات مع خطة العمل الطارئة لليونسكو من أجل السودان، وتهدف إلى تعزيز صمود المؤسسات، ودعم جهود الاسترداد، والإسهام في التعافي طويل الأمد وبناء السلام.
التراث السوداني ليس مجرد ماضٍ، بل هو هوية، وهو الأساس الذي نبني عليه مستقبلنا.

For five days in Cairo, In partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Information and tourism, the National Corporation for Antiquities and Museums and with generous support from Italy, Sudanese heritage experts, legal authorities, and international experts and partners came together with one urgent purpose: to protect Sudan’s cultural heritage from looting, loss, and disappearance, marking a critical step in strengthening Sudan’s capacity to safeguard its museums, archaeological sites, archives, and living heritage during a time of conflict.
Discussions focused on combating illicit trafficking, reinforcing legal frameworks, improving documentation and inventory systems, including the use of digital tools. Strengthened coordination between cultural institutions, law enforcement, customs, and judicial authorities was emphasized, alongside the essential role of communities and young people in safeguarding both tangible and intangible heritage.
28 technical papers were examined by 30 experts, resulting in clear priority actions. These include advancing emergency protection and documentation efforts, reinforcing anti-trafficking enforcement mechanisms, establishing secure and harmonized national heritage databases, enhancing rapid response coordination systems, promoting community- and youth-led safeguarding initiatives, and supporting the creative sector through phased recovery measures.
Aligned with UNESCO’s Emergency Action Plan for Sudan, these outcomes aim to strengthen institutional resilience, advance restitution efforts, and contribute to long-term recovery and peacebuilding.
Sudan’s heritage is not only about the past. It is identity, and the foundation for rebuilding.
