We've met some interesting hockey players here in PR. One of the most unique was Claude; he wanted to run a power skating clinic in Aguadilla. We ended up talking about his figure skating-and singing Leonard Cohen on 'Battle of the Blades.'
Truly one of a kind.

When was the last time the USA and Russia played for gold?
In 1990 at Ted Turner's Goodwill Games in Seattle.
Always the Pioneer, Ted started his own version of the Olympics-on his own networks to sidestep the NHL and IOC, and ignore their boycotts and political intrusion into sports.

Original poster from the '79 Pan-Am Games in San Juan. Yes, they had roller hockey.
Orson Welles directed and narrated the documentary on these games: as it was the lead in to '80 Olympics in Moscow. The USA boycotted those Olympics, as the Russians were in Afghanistan. PR did not. Politics in Sports have never worked, and never will.

In a strange twist~As the NHL has gone all in on gambling. ESPN has cancelled all future hockey broadcasts to jump on the 'Scratchy' craze. Gary Bettman responded by airing Powerball drawings between periods.
