BSP IN ACTION | Bilang pakikiisa sa pagdiriwang ng ika-128 Anibersaryo ng Araw ng Kalayaan, nagsagawa ang paaralan ng isang makabuluhang Seremonya ng Pagreretiro sa Watawat ng Pilipinas bilang pagpapakita ng paggalang at pagpapahalaga sa isa sa pinakamahalagang simbolo ng ating bansa.

Bilang paghahanda sa gawain, nagsagawa rin ng Seminar-Workshop tungkol sa Republic Act No. 8491 o ang Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines upang higit na maunawaan ng mga kalahok ang kahalagahan ng wastong pagtrato, paggamit, at pangangalaga sa pambansang watawat.

Ang seremonya ay isinagawa alinsunod sa itinadhana ng batas para sa mga watawat na hindi na maaaring gamitin o ipakita dahil sa kanilang kalagayan.
Sa pamamagitan ng isang marangal at makabayang pamamaraan, binigyang-pugay ang mga watawat na naging saksi sa iba't ibang gawain at pagdiriwang ng paaralan.

Higit pa sa isang simpleng seremonya, ito ay nagsilbing paalala sa bawat isa ng kahalagahan ng kalayaan, pagkakaisa, at pagmamahal sa bayan. ang watawat ng Pilipinas ay nananatiling simbolo ng ating pagkakakilanlan bilang isang bansa at ng mga pagpapahalagang ipinaglaban ng ating mga bayani para sa susunod na henerasyon.

Under Republic Act No. 8491, also known as the โ€œFlag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines,โ€ there are rules that protect the dignity and proper use of the Philippine flag and other national symbols. The law states that Filipinos must show respect to the flag because it represents the nationโ€™s history, freedom, and unity.

These rules help preserve the honor and importance of the Philippine national flag as a symbol of patriotism and independence.

Proper disposal of worn-out flag is a very significant act by which one can display his or her respect and gratitude towards one of the most important symbols of our nation. Such flags, if torn, faded or damaged, shall never be disposed off carelessly as it would mean dis-respecting the dignity associated with the flag.

As per the traditions followed in the Philippines, there are certain processes that have been laid out for disposing of worn-out flags properly. This process makes us realize the respect that our flag deserves, both when it was raised up to honor the nation as well as during its respectful disposal.

This will remind all Filipinos about their nationalism, patriotism and respect towards their country.

HOISTING AND LOWERING

Every morning and afternoon, there is a ritual we do that has become so ordinary. But unknown to many, the "Hoisting and Lowering" of our national flag is more than just a simple ceremony.

It is a sacred act of respect.
With every raising of the flag, we commemorate the blood and sweat of the heroes who gave their lives for the freedom we have today. With every lowering of it, we are reminded of the responsibility that comes with being Filipino - to protect, respect, and fight for our nation.

Hindi lahat ng pagtaas ng watawat ay tama. May tamang posisyon, tamang anggulo, at tamang lugar kung saan dapat ito nakadisplay.

Mula 1898, itinuro sa atin ng mga bayani kung paano irespeto ang bandila - hindi lang sa seremonya, kundi pati sa araw-araw na pag-display nito. Bawal itong baliktad. Bawal dumampi sa lupa. Bawal gawing kurtina, unan, o dekorasyon lang.

Ang tamang orientation ng Philippine flag ay simbolo ng tamang pagrespeto. Kapag nasa mapayapang oras tayo, asul na bahagi ang nasa itaas. Kapag naman may giyera, pulang bahagi ang nasa itaas.Kahit maliit na detalye, malaki ang ibig sabihin.
