Encouraging children to love reading. Empowering them through literacy! Learning English Through Stories - Read, a.k.a. LE.T.S. Created by the Corazon S.

READ or LETS Read, is a literacy program that supplements the school curriculum in helping children learn to read. Through remedial reading sessions, it focuses on children at risk of dropping out due to learner's frustration from never having learned to read. Atayde Memorial Foundation, using material by the BINHI English Literacy Foundation, LETS Read believes that children learn best through st

ories. The Program has grown from 50 scholars in just 1 school to nearly 4000 scholars in 40 schools/sites, and shown an 80-90% improvement in reading and comprehension skills based on DepEd's Phil-IRI reading assessment tool. It has also been recognized twice by the DepEd as a valued partner in promoting accessible and quality Education For All (EFA), at the DepEd NCR Parangal at Pasasalamat in 2013 and 2014. Partnering closely with the schools, the parents, and the community, LETS Read has been able to transform the lives of the children most at risk of being left behind by the public educational system. Through LETS Read, the Corazon S. Atayde Memorial Foundation seeks to eradicate illiteracy at the grade school level. By learning how to read, the children are no longer assured of failure and have a real chance at a brighter future.

A meaningful and engaging Parents’ Seminar at Bambang Elementary School, Pasig City! 💙👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
The seminar on “Positive Parenting” was both interactive and insightful as parents were asked to reflect on their own parenting styles through the 4-Corners Activity with choices: “OO pero,” “OO kasi,” “Hindi kasi,” and “Hindi pero.” This activity helped parents see different perspectives and approaches in raising their children.

There was also a short reenactment activity showing common real-life situations, such as a child having a tantrum in the mall when asking for toys or other items, and how parents usually respond when this happens. Through this activity, parents learned the best positive parenting practices—how to stay calm, set clear boundaries, and respond with understanding and guidance instead of punishment.

Our heartfelt thanks to our facilitator, Ms. Aravilla Tan, for her very entertaining yet highly informative discussion that made the session enjoyable, relatable, and truly meaningful for all parents.

Isang puno ng aral at commitment na araw sa Malitlit ES at Anangi ES! 📚✨
Naging makabuluhan ang aming Launching, Turnover of Kits, at MOA Signing, kasabay ng Parents’ Orientation kung saan nagkaisa ang mga magulang na suportahan at tulungan ang kanilang mga anak sa 60-Days Reading Challenge.

Sa storytelling na “Tatlong Matitipid na Langgam,” natutunan ng mga bata na ang pagtitipid ay nagsisimula sa simpleng gawain—tulad ng pagpatay ng ilaw kapag hindi kailangan at pagsasara ng gripo para hindi magsayang ng tubig. Maliit na hakbang, pero malaking ambag sa paghubog ng disiplina at tamang values.

Maraming salamat sa ComWorks Inc. Recruitment sa patuloy na suporta sa aming adbokasiya para sa pagkatuto at pag-unlad ng ating mga learners. Sama-sama, mas nagiging posible ang mas maayos at mas maliwanag na kinabukasan para sa ating mga bata.

Isang makabuluhan at masayang araw ang naganap sa Villa Maria ES at Diaz ES, Porac, Pampanga noong December 3 sa opisyal na paglulunsad ng kanilang RecoveREADS program! 💙📚

Kasabay ng launch ay nagkaroon ng Parents’ Orientation at isang nakakatuwang Storytelling Activity.

Sa kwento ng The Crow and the Pitcher, kasama ang mga dedicated volunteers mula sa Vincents at Tech Elite, natutunan ng mga bata kung paano mas mabisang gamitin ang mga bagay para mapaangat ang tubig sa pitsel—isang simpleng aral na puno ng talino at praktikal na kaalaman!

💙 Maraming salamat sa Vincents at Technology Elite, Inc. sa walang sawang suporta sa aming adbokasiya para sa kabataan. Dahil sa inyo, mas nagiging makabuluhan at posible ang paghubog ng mas maliwanag na kinabukasan para sa ating mga learners.

Goa Central School, Goa, Camarines Sur in full force!
More than 70 teachers joined the orientation and training, showcasing resilience forged through countless challenges. This strength, paired with a forward‑thinking mindset, was evident in the impact project ideas they presented. The gears are already turning toward transforming their school into a healthier community—and the AHS program is here to support and reignite the passion of both teachers and learners.

The dedication and passion of MNHS shone through as they envisioned a healthier school community. The day brimmed with energy—filled with song and dance, thoughtful questions, and, most importantly, solutions co-created by learners and teachers.

On 27 November, Francisco Legaspi Memorial School in Pasig City held a meaningful Parent Seminar on Virtues and Values Formation with our guest speaker, Ming Syyap.

The session highlighted how raising children well goes beyond discipline—it’s about shaping character that supports their growth and education. When children learn virtues such as respect, responsibility, and perseverance, they build the foundation for success in school and life.

This aligns perfectly with our L.ETS Read Programme, which promotes literacy and a love for learning. Strong values at home complement reading habits, helping children become not only knowledgeable but also compassionate and principled individuals.

Launching the L.E.T.S. Read Programme at Anabel Elementary School! 🎉

On 24 November 2025, we proudly kicked off the L.E.T.S. Read Programme, sponsored by Ayala Multipurpose Cooperative, at Anabel Elementary School, Sadanga, Mountain Province.

Thirty one enthusiastic learners will embark on a 60-Day Reading Challenge, borrowing books and completing workbooks designed to boost their reading fluency and comprehension skills.

📖 This turnover is a fitting way to kick off the National Book Week, reinforcing our commitment to nurturing a love for reading and lifelong learning.

Together, let’s empower young minds—one page at a time! 🌟

One book in a household 📖🏡

THE POWER OF ACCESS
A single children's book at home nearly doubles a child's chance of achieving grade-level literacy and numeracy (EDCOM, 2025). Access to reading materials is a decisive factor in development. Yet, many households remain book-poor.

Thank you Ms. Reina Licauco and Sophie A from 'Stories We Share group' for donating storybooks to the young learners of Panglima Sugala, Tawi-tawi, a fitting gift as we celebrate National Children's Month and National Book Week. Your generosity bridges the gap between book-poor and book-empowered.

Last 21st November 2025, our 2nd Parents’ Seminar on “The Power of Positive Parenting” became meaningful through the practical insights of Mr. Marlonito C. Padillo (Head Teacher III of Values Education Department) and the facilitation of RCPS PP Lorena Vega (Head Teacher III of Araling Panlipunan Department), both educators from San Joaquin Kalawaan High School.

We first recognized seven Early Bird Parents, reminding us that positive parenting begins with simply showing up.

Grateful to RCPS GP Atty. Arnel Victor C. Valeña and RCPW Pres. Policarpio Bautista for making this empowering parent session possible.
