GLOBAL HANDWASHING DAY 2026 | OCTOBER 15, 2026
The Philippine Red Cross – Ozamiz City Chapter proudly celebrates Global Handwashing Day 2026 with this month’s theme, “Be a Handwashing Hero!”, advocating for proper hand hygiene as a simple yet powerful way to prevent diseases, protect lives, and promote healthier communities.
In collaboration with the Department of Education – Ozamiz City School Division Office, headed by Schools Division Superintendent Dionesio L. Liwagon Jr., CESO VI, and Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Luisander C. Luy, CESE, and in partnership with International Pharmaceuticals Incorporated (IPI), represented by Marketing Manager Mr. Alvin Malinis, the activity reached the learners and teachers of Tipan Elementary School and Gala National High School.
As part of this meaningful initiative, hand soaps were distributed to the children and teachers of both schools to encourage regular handwashing and strengthen awareness of the importance of personal hygiene in preventing the spread of diseases.
This initiative is especially meaningful as October also celebrates Red Cross Youth Month, carrying the theme “READY TO LEAD, READY TO SERVE, READY TO RESPOND.” Through this activity, our Red Cross Youth volunteers demonstrated that leadership and service begin with simple yet impactful actions that protect the health and well-being of others.
The activity was facilitated by the dedicated volunteers of the Misamis University College Red Cross Youth, together with their president, Ms. Chriziel May P. Arina, and fellow members, whose commitment and spirit of volunteerism exemplify the true values of the Red Cross Youth movement.
Together, let us inspire every child, teacher, and volunteer to become a handwashing hero. Because every clean hand helps build a healthier, safer, and more resilient community!
