A single word can prompt a misunderstanding. But at sea, there is no room for such. A single word boundaries, safety and casualties.

Every phrase counts. Every transmission matters. Precision is the game. But it is not to be played with, words carry not only weight but also lives.

Join the IMEC Cadet Task Force at the Crew Connect Global 2026 in the Philippines as it traverses language, transcends culture and explores onboard safety.

On 18 July 2026, IMEC Philippines conducted its inaugural Financial Literacy Seminar for IMEC ETO Cadets at GigaMare Inc., Subic Bay, with 33 cadets from Batches 3–5 participating.

As the first batch of IMEC ETO Cadets to receive financial literacy training, this seminar marks the official launch of IMEC Philippines’ Financial Literacy Programme for ETO Cadets—an initiative aimed at equipping future seafarers with the knowledge and skills to build a strong financial foundation from the very beginning of their careers.

Led by the IMEC Finance & Administration Department, the seminar provided practical guidance on responsible money management and informed financial decision-making as the cadets prepare to embark on their seafaring careers. Through interactive games, Slido quizzes, and engaging activities, the session delivered a fun, dynamic, and meaningful learning experience.

A special thanks to Engr. Romar Bien Tamayo, former IMEC Scholar and IMEC Philippines Career Development Officer, for sharing valuable real-life experiences on financial discipline and the importance of developing sound financial habits early in a seafarer’s career.

At IMEC Philippines, we remain committed to preparing future seafarers not only for life at sea, but also for a lifetime of financial responsibility and security.

The last batch of cadets bound for shipboard training has successfully completed their Pre-Shipboard Training Orientation, led by the IMEC Training Manager.

The session equipped them with the knowledge, mindset, professionalism, and confidence needed to face the realities and responsibilities of life at sea as they prepare to begin their onboard training.

As we conclude this year's Pre-Shipboard Orientation, we wish our cadets fair winds and following seas. May this milestone mark the beginning of a safe, successful, and rewarding maritime career.

Safe sailing, Cadets!
