As industries continue to evolve in the era of Industry 4.0, equipping workers with future-ready skills has become more important than ever. Through the QuEST (Quality Education and Skills Transformation) for Workforce Development Program, Unilab Foundation, DOST-MIRDC, and ICCP Group Foundation Inc. (IGFI) are working together to capacitate the Philippine manufacturing workforce with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing industrial landscape.

The second batch of the Introduction to Additive Manufacturing Training brought together engineers, technicians, supervisors, HR professionals, and IT personnel from locator companies in Light Industry and Science Park II (LISP II), Calamba, Laguna. Participants gained foundational knowledge in 3D printing technologies, explored real-world industrial applications, and experienced live demonstrations that showcased the potential of additive manufacturing to drive innovation, efficiency, and problem-solving in the workplace.

More than a technical training, the program reflects IGFI’s commitment to fostering a workforce that is adaptable, skilled, and ready for the opportunities of the future. The enthusiasm of participants, coupled with measurable improvements in learning outcomes and strong interest in advanced training, highlights the growing demand for emerging technologies across Philippine industries.

Through initiatives like QuEST for WorkDev, IGFI continues to champion workforce development that empowers people, strengthens industries, and creates pathways for sustainable growth. By investing in skills, innovation, and lifelong learning today, we are helping build a manufacturing sector that is ready for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow.

The QuEST to Empowering the Philippine Manufacturing Workforce for Industry 4.0

Unilab Foundation, DOST-MIRDC, and ICCP Group Foundation Inc., are reimagining Bayanihan through people-centered workforce ecosystems and inclusive development, ensuring opportunities reach the communities.

The first batch of participants under the QuEST (Quality Education and Skills Transformation) for Workforce Development came together at Light Industry and Science Park 1 (LISP 1) in Cabuyao, Laguna to take their first step into the world of Additive Manufacturing. The participants had hands-on experience with 3D printers and filament extruders- one of the key technologies shaping Industry 4.0

As the first training in a series designed to reach workers across six ICCP science parks, this initiative reflects a shared commitment to preparing the Philippine workforce for the future. More than learning how machines work, participants were introduced to new ways of innovating. By bringing science and technology closer to the workplace, QuEST for WorkDev aims to empower production operators and maintenance technicians with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving industry, while helping strengthen productivity and investment opportunities across the country.

As QuEST for WorkDev continues its journey, it carries a simple but powerful vision: building a future-ready manufacturing workforce where science, technology, and lifelong learning create opportunities for people, industries, and communities to grow together.

At the heart of every thriving industry is a skilled and empowered workforce. Through the QuEST (Quality Education and Skills Transformation) for Workforce Development initiative, the Investment and Capital Corporation of the Philippines Group Foundation, Inc. (IGFI) continues to champion workforce development by creating opportunities for workers to gain future-ready skills and embrace emerging technologies. The training forms part of a broader effort to equip workers across the six ICCP science parks with the skills needed to remain competitive, adaptable, and innovative.

As a key partner of Unilab Foundation in QuEST for WorkDev, IGFI recognizes that investing in people is essential to building stronger industries and more resilient communities. By supporting programs that bridge technology, education, and workforce development, IGFI helps create pathways for growth, not only for individual workers but also for the industries and communities they serve.

Together, we move closer to a future where innovation is powered by a workforce ready to meet the opportunities of tomorrow.

Strengthening a shared vision for a future-ready workforce, the Manufacturing Development Alliance (MDev) Network recently convened, marking a significant milestone in the country’s journey toward Industry 4.0.
The event served as a dedicated space for experts across government, industry, and academe to reconnect and celebrate collective wins since the network’s inception in March. The highlight of the afternoon was the formal signing of the Memorandum of Agreement for the QUEST (Quality Education and Skills Transformation for Workforce Development) program.
Through this MOA, the Department of Science and Technology – Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST MIRDC), the ICCP Group Foundation, Inc. (IGFI), and Unilab Foundation (ULF) are pooling their expertise and resources to sustain the vital initiatives established under the USAID-funded Advanced Manufacturing Workforce Development Alliance (AMDev) program— this includes the creation of modules for Introduction to Additive Manufacturing, Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and 3D Modelling, and Design for Additive Manufacturing.
The pilot implementation for QuEST will commence January 2026.
