On February 21, 2026, the Girl Scouts of the Philippines of Sacred Heart College of Lucena City conducted a day camp at Eco Park Gazebo from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Guided by SHC-GSP moderator Dr. Josefina M. Parentela, the activity fostered discipline, coordination, and purposeful engagement among girl scouts.
The morning session featured outdoor cooking without utensils, led by guest expert Lisa Venzuela, who shared her knowledge and techniques in survival cooking. With ingenuity and teamwork, the scouts prepared rice, egg, and chicken using improvised materials. A Zest-O sachet was transformed into a rice cooker, foil-covered wood served as a frying surface, a charcoal-powered stove enabled cooking, and a large can functioned as a makeshift roasting oven. The activity underscored creativity, adaptability, and collaborative problem-solving.
In the afternoon, the camp transitioned into a solemn World Thinking Day ceremony, allowing the scouts to reflect on global sisterhood, shared values, and their role in the wider scouting community.
More than a routine activity, the day camp became a meaningful expression of preparedness, resilience, and the enduring spirit of scouting.
