***The Chapter's History***

The idea of Dad masons, who are residing within

the vicinity of BF HOMES Subdivision Parañaque and nearby villages to group together and foster the bond of brotherhood, including their families, was the corner stone for the establishment of a DeMolay chapter, which is now the A. Sometime December 1979, a group of masons from a Masonic Club that meets every Wednesday at Tropical Palace Hotel for the purpose of making a monthly fellowship with each other and with one other goal to help the youth in their teenage activities, how to spend their time wisely and to prevent them from becoming a drug addict. It was a unanimous consensus among the members that while there is an appendant organization in the masonic family, it would be proper to sponsor one of these organizations. Because male adolescent youth are the most susceptible to drug addiction, the members taught of the sponsoring a DeMolay Chapter. It was in July 1982 that preparations for the establishment started through the Executive Officer for Luzon which at that time the late Hon. was the incumbent Executive Officer under the auspices of the International Supreme Council in Kansas City, Missouri, U.S.A. The founding father of the chapter is no other than the incumbent Grand Master Emeritus of the Supreme Council, Order of DeMolay, Republic of the Philippines and the Past Grand Master of Masons in the Philippines, MW Dad Rosendo C. Herrera, PGM, HLOH

Today, we honor and remember the life of Past Grand Master Hon. Edward Y. Chua.

A Past Grand Master of the Supreme Council, Order of DeMolay of the Philippines, he dedicated his life to service and leadership, not only within DeMolay, but also in Freemasonry and allied and appendant organizations. His work and commitment helped shape institutions and guide generations of young men.

To many DeMolays, he was more than a leader. He was a father figure who offered guidance, wisdom, and encouragement. He was recognized as the Father of Knighthood in the Philippines and his contributions left a lasting mark on the Order and its traditions.

His life reflected the same spirit as Frank S. Land by uplifting others, building leaders, and inspiring service. His legacy lives on in every DeMolay who continues to follow his example.

Today, we don’t just remember history—we bring it to life.

This Araw ng Kagitingan, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of the brave Filipinos who stood strong in the face of adversity. They fought not just for land, but for freedom, dignity, and the future we now live in.

Their stories remind us that heroism isn’t always about grand battles, it’s about choosing to stand firm when things get difficult, speaking up when it matters, and putting others before ourselves. The bravery they showed continues to echo in our everyday lives, challenging us to be stronger, kinder, and more courageous in our own ways.

As we remember their sacrifices, let’s not just look back, let’s look within.
How can we carry their legacy forward?
How can we show courage in our own time?

May we honor them not only with words, but with actions that reflect the same love for our country and for one another.

Salute to all the brave hearts — past and present.

Before this day ends, we take a solemn moment to honor the bravery, sacrifice, and enduring legacy of our national heroes—those who gave their lives, voices, and dreams so that our nation could stand free, dignified, and united. From the warriors who resisted oppression in the earliest times, to the revolutionaries who fought with pens and swords, and to the countless unnamed heroes who quietly endured struggles for the sake of the next generation—their courage continues to live on in the story of the Philippines.

National Heroes Day is not only about remembering their sacrifices, but also about reflecting on the responsibility we carry as the heirs of their legacy. Their strength teaches us that heroism comes in many forms: in the classroom, in public service, in defending the truth, in standing for justice, and even in the small acts of kindness that uplift our fellow Filipinos. True heroism lies in choosing to serve, to care, and to build, no matter how big or small our contributions may seem.

As we celebrate today, let us be reminded that we, too, are called to be heroes of our own time. In every challenge our nation faces, may we embody the same courage, unity, and love for country that our heroes once showed. May their stories inspire us to live with purpose, to fight for what is right, and to work together toward a brighter future for all Filipinos.
