Sometimes all you need is a little 🤏 bit of salt. 🧂

Fun fact! Las Piñas was once known as the largest salt producer in the Philippines. Earning the title of "Salt Center of the South," salt beds ran across the whole city covering millions of square meters. Fascinating, isn't it? 😯

It was said that the best salt in the Philippines from the 1800s until the end of the century came from Irasan, or the Barangay Pulanglupa salt beds of Las Piñas, which produced 40–50 kg of salt per day.

It is quite bitter to think that it's only a piece of history now; what was once the pride of Las Piñas now lies in the city's past. ❤️‍🩹

But if you ever need a bit of salt, Las Piñas still has your back!

This water is half full.❌
This water is half empty.❌
This water flows underground… 💦✅

Let’s dive in for fresh and flowing facts from the fact factory, ready to fill our minds! 🧠💦

One of the 7 Wonders of Nature — the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park in Palawan — is a protector of limestone forests, caves, and wildlife! 🏞️🦇

This river flows inside huge limestone caves and stretches over 8.2 kilometers underground ⛰️💧

It also nourishes nearby rivers and seas, supporting fish, crabs, and other marine life 🐟🦀. Inside the river, bats and swiftlets make their home 🦇🐦. But it doesn’t just support wildlife — the surrounding forests also help prevent floods and keep the air clean 🌿💨

The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park doesn’t stop there. It’s also a major ecotourism destination, allowing people to explore the river while supporting the local community 🇵🇭💚

The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River is truly a wonder, full of secrets and adventures, shimmering and waiting to be discovered!

“To walk in nature is to witness a thousand miracles." — Mary Davis🌸

Did you know that The Philippines has more than 52,177 described species? Half of which are endemic or found nowhere else on earth.
In terms of terrestrial vertebrates, the Philippines is known to host 1,238 species of which 618 (or 50%) is endemic. 🌴🌱

The Philippines is also one of the megadiverse countries in the world, a host to over two-thirds of Earth’s biodiversity and between 70%-80% of the world’s plant and animal species. 🍃🌼

Here comes a refreSEAing fact, brought to you by the waves of the ocean! 🌊

Did you know that ocean animals also have a favorite hangout spot?😱

Whale sharks, the sea’s gentle giants, return to the same Philippine waters every single year?✨💙

Through satellite tracking and long-term monitoring, scientists have discovered that some whale sharks show site fidelity, meaning they faithfully come back to the same feeding grounds annually. And in this case, they have chosen the warm, familiar, and blue sees of the Philippines, a sign of a healthy and productive marine ecosystem. 🦈

Their yearly returns remind us how important it is for us to protect and preserve our seas and oceans as they are both our place of resource, and a home for the sea creatures! 🐙

Let’s continue caring for our marine environment so that animals just like these whale sharks have a place to stay by. 🩵

Two lies, one truth 👀...

❌ It's not a lemur
❌ It actually doesn't fly
✅ It can glide UP to 70 meters 😱

Meet the Philippine flying lemur! An amazing rainforest canopy dweller only found in the Southern part of the Philippines 🇵🇭 ✨
It spends most of its life high up in the trees, rarely having touched the forest floor

Well, what makes it extra cool? A special skin membrane stretches from its neck to the tail, acting like a natural parachute 🪂
This serves as a tool to escape predators, save energy, and move through trees in the rainforest canopy 🦇🍃

Have you drank water yet? 💦🧊🚰

The Fact Factory has a hydrating fact today! 👀

The La Mesa Watershed contains the last remaining rainforest of its size in Metro Manila surrounding the La Mesa Dam and butReservoir. 🌲😱

It is the primary source of potable drinking water for 12 million residents in the Manila metropolitan area. 😋💧

So, whenever you feel extra thirsty after P.E., grab your water bottle and thank the La Mesa Watershed! 🥰

For every result, you must achieve every needed step. 🪜🏅

But definitely not for some Philippine frog species. ❌🐸

Did you know that though?🤔💭

Philippine frogs, especially in the Platymantis genus, exhibit "direct development," hatching from land eggs as tiny froglets, skipping the aquatic tadpole stage. 🌴🌿

But they still need proper nature and nurturing to survive and continue on the journey. 🌿🌱

With simple awareness, empathy driven action and change towards their habitats, can we maintain another wonder of philippine nature.💚🫶🏾

"Why can't I see her and still feel her presence?"

RINGGGG! RINGG!l Looks like our amazing plants are here to deliver us a message of fresh information straight from the Fact Factory!

Did you know that LPPCHEA is home to diverse fungi species that play an important ecological role. These fungi can break down decaying plant matter, absorb water and minerals by forming symbiotic relationships, recycle nutrients to support plants, and indirectly help fish and birds.

An example of this is Cladosporium sp., a common filamentous fungus that can live on decaying plant material and organic particles in water. These fungi help break down organic matter, contributing to nutrient recycling in coastal ecosystems like those surrounding LPPCHEA.

So whenever your too wet, always find a way to absorb those water and nutrients, just like our little fungi friends

🚣‍♂️🌊 Another day, another fact rushing its way! 🌊🚣‍♂️

~ They say rivers serve as lifelines of the city, bringing communities, nature, and history together as one. ✊🩵 Here in Las Piñas, we are blessed with the presence of two vast waterways, namely the Las Piñas River and the Zapote River. 💧☁️

~ Did you know? 🫢 These rivers once thrived with fish, mangroves, and clear waters. 🐠🌿 Unfortunately, with the concerning surge in water pollution, attempts to revive aquatic life were tasks too difficult to accomplish. 😥😣

~ Thankfully, the Filipinos' efforts did not end there, as projects continued to thrive in addressing this environmental issue. One notable project is the “Sagip Ilog” program proposed in 2002, which aims to restore the health and cleanliness of the Las Piñas and Zapote River. 😇🍃 From activities ranging from dredging plastic bags underwater to clearing water hyacinths clogging the river flow, this program combines community participation, environmental protection, and sustainable livelihood initiatives to ensure long-term river sustainability. 🤝🌊
~ The program remains active and ongoing, partnering with NGOs, the private sector, and local communities. 🤝 Despite overwhelming success, pollution, urbanization, and narrow riverbanks continue to threaten river health. 🐟🌱

~ Make every small action count🫡, so do not waste the opportunity to volunteer, clean, and help bring back the rivers that were once our own! 🌏🩵
