🌊 STAY ALERT, STAY PREPARED, STAY SAFE! 🌧️

As rainy season approaches, flood hazards become a serious concern for many communities. Preparedness is our best defense! JCI Iloilo Ilang Ilang and Project LALA bring you Lala’s Preparedness Pack Guide - Flood Safety Protocol to help keep you and your loved ones safe before, during, and after a flood.

📌 BEFORE - Know the Hazards & Prepare
* Stay Updated! Monitor weather updates and official announcements (Alamin ang balita ukol sa panahon).
* Know the Plan! Learn community early warning signals and evacuation routes (Alamin ang plano sa paglikas).
* Participate! Join local flood preparedness drills (Makilahok sa mga pagsasanay).
* Secure Your Home! Move essential belongings to elevated areas (Iakyat ang mahahalagang kagamitan).
* Shut Off Utilities! Turn off main switches for electricity, water, and LPG before evacuating (Isarado ang switches ng kuryente, tubig, at LPG).
* Protect Animals! Move pets and livestock to safe zones (Ilikas ang mga alagang hayop).
* Evacuate Promptly! Move to higher ground immediately when advised (Mabilis na lumikas kapag inabisuhan).

⚡ DURING - Stay on Higher Ground
* Stay Indoors! Keep tuned to news updates (Manatili sa loob at makinig sa ulat).
* Electrical Safety! NEVER touch electrical equipment if wet or standing in water (Huwag humawak ng kuryente kung basa).
* Avoid Water Hazards! Do NOT swim, boat, walk, or drive through floodwaters or swollen rivers (Huwag lumangoy o magmaneho sa baha).
* Don't Cross Streams! Avoid crossing water levels that exceed knee height (Huwag tumawid kung lagpas tuhod ang tubig).

🛡️ AFTER - Stay Alert & Inspect Carefully
* Wait for All-Clear! Return home only when authorities declare it safe (Lisanin ang evacuation area kapag ligtas na).
* Report Hazards! Inform authorities of fallen trees, electric posts, or damaged lines (Ipagbigay-alam ang mga natumbang poste/puno).
* Check Outlets! Ensure outlets and appliances are dry before turning power back on (Suriin ang linya ng kuryente).
* Inspect Damages! Check structure for stability and repair safely (Suriin ang mga nasira sa bahay).
* Ensure Safe Food & Water! Verify drinking water and food are uncontaminated (Siguraduhing malinis ang pagkain at tubig).
* Prevent Dengue: Drain stagnant water from containers, pots, and tires (Itapon ang naipong tubig upang iwas-lamok).

Last July 25, JCI Iloilo Ilang Ilang gathered for our General Membership Meeting at Sam’s 21, welcoming and inducting our newest members into the chapter. 🌸

The evening continued with dinner, trivia, karaoke, and plenty of fun as we celebrated new beginnings and strengthened the bonds within our LALA family. 🎤🎶

Huge congratulations to JCI Iloilo Ilang Ilang especially our Director for Community Development, Reesa Isabel D. Facon-Nonescan, for winning the JCI Philippines Sustain360 Project Pitching Challenge 2026 with Project Tuwang!🇵🇭🏆

Rooted in the Hiligaynon word “Tuwang,”meaning carrying a responsibility together, the project is built on a simple belief: lasting change happens when inclusion becomes a shared responsibility.

Project Tuwang brings together people, communities, and institutions toward a more inclusive future—one where opportunities are sustained, participation is strengthened, and no one is left behind, because sustainability is not only about what we create today, but what we can continue building together tomorrow.🤝🌱

And this is only the beginning.

We can’t wait to see the ripple effect of Project Tuwang during JCI Sustainability Week this August 22–29! 🌍✨

Congratulations as well to all the Area winners across the Philippines who are turning local ideas into lasting impact.

After reviewing all the project proposals from JCI Local Organizations across the Philippines, the winners of the JCI Philippines Sustain360 Project Pitching Challenge 2026 have been selected.
Each winning project will receive a USD 1,000 grant from Columbia Group to support implementation during JCI Sustainability Week on August 24-30, 2026.
