🔥 RACING AGAINST TIME — 2026 INTERNATIONAL ROAD TRAFFIC RESCUE CHALLENGE 🚑🌍

The 2026 International Road Traffic Rescue Challenge is officially underway from October 3–4, bringing together elite rescue teams from across Taiwan and around the world!

Director-General Hsiao Huan-Chang of Taiwan’s National Fire Agency personally presided over today’s opening ceremony, encouraging Taiwan’s top firefighting and rescue teams and warmly welcoming four international teams, including teams from Japan and the Philippines. Mr. Kunikane Eikō, Director of the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association, also attended the event, expressing hopes that the success of this competition will further strengthen international cooperation and exchange in firefighting and disaster response. 🤝

Vehicle rescue is truly a race against time. Every cut, spread, and piece of vehicle extrication carries the responsibility of saving lives. This event is more than just a competition—it provides an opportunity for rescue personnel to sharpen their technical skills, improve speed and safety during actual emergency responses, and demonstrate Taiwan’s continued advancement in rescue technology and equipment.

The competition features two major categories: Vehicle Rescue and Trauma Rescue. Realistic casualty simulations—including severe bleeding, fractures, and other trauma scenarios—are incorporated to recreate the intense, high-pressure conditions of real-world road traffic accidents. 🚨

「2026國際車禍救援挑戰賽」於10/3至10/4熱血開戰！消防署長蕭煥章今日親自主持啟動儀式，為全國消防菁英加油，並熱烈歡迎日本、菲律賓等4支國際隊伍。日本台灣交流協會國金榮江部長也特地出席，期盼本次賽事的成功能成為世界消防、防災交流的重要平臺🤝。

車禍救援是與時間賽跑的艱鉅任務，每一次的車體破壞與切割，都肩負著挽救生命的使命。這不僅是專業競技，更是實質鍛鍊隊員技術，確保每次出勤更快速安全；同時也向世界展現臺灣救援裝備的升級成果，讓臺灣成為國際救援的重要夥伴🌍！

本次賽事包含「車禍救援」與「創傷救援」兩大項目，現場更安排真人模擬傷患，搭配大出血、骨折等逼真特效，高度還原真實事故的高壓情境🚨。

The "2026 International Car Accident Rescue Challenge" has officially kicked off, bringing together top firefighting teams from Japan, the Philippines, and Taiwan for a competition that will showcase rescue techniques, share practical experience, and enhance professional capabilities in car accident rescue.

This woman is the shortest female firefighter 🚒

Autumn Kelso (USA) may be small in size, but she certainly isn’t lacking spirit.

For the last five years, this determined firefighter has braved all kinds of house calls and calamities in the region around St. Pete Beach, Florida, USA – whether that entails driving around in the wailing red truck, spraying the high-powered water hose, or entering flaming buildings.

Yet despite the tough nature of her job, Autumn isn’t backing down – and this year, all her hard work paid off as she was awarded the Guinness World Records title as the shortest firefighter (female) on the globe.

Standing just 4 ft 10 in (147.32 cm) tall, she officially nabbed the title on 18 January, to the delight of everyone in her firehouse.

“This has got to be the coolest experience ever,” said Autumn to GWR. “Obviously I didn’t become a firefighter thinking that this was going to unfold later down the road – I’ve been a firefighter for five years now, and this was just a joke in the firehouse.

“One of the guys decided to look it up one day, and realized that I could in fact actually go for this award,” she continued. “We followed the steps, there was a big measuring process, and here we are! It’s really just kind of a fun twist of fate, if you will.”

Autumn decided to become a firefighter after spending her 20s in the corporate world, eventually deciding that life behind a desk wasn’t for her. She never dreamed as a child that she would end up battling flames for a living, but she had some supportive friends working in the service who encouraged her to apply and guided her throughout the process.

The rest, they say, is history.
