Celestial Chimney at Bangkong Kahoy Valley

At this point, camping at Bangkong Kahoy Valley during the Milky Way season is a yearly ritual for us.

Shown here is the Cygnus region, or the Northern part of the Milky Way. Not as bright as the core, but still beautiful.

Jupiter with Io and Io's shadow

Io is one of the four Galilean moons and the most volcanically active world in the solar system, covered in erupting sulfur volcanoes driven by intense tidal forces.

Taken March 21, 7:09PM. San Pablo City.

I was just demonstrating how to do planetary photography to my astro friends and didn't expect to actually get good data. To our surprise, this was the result. Not bad, considering this was tracked manually. 😅

Another successful school telescope viewing!

A huge thank you to the Natural Science Society of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng San Pablo for inviting us. It’s always incredible to see students experience the planet Jupiter and the night sky through a telescope for the first time.

Clear skies, and we hope to see you all under the stars again soon!

Heads up, San Pableños!

One week from now, on March 3, a total lunar eclipse will be visible!

The Moon will pass into Earth’s umbra and take on a red hue for roughly an hour during totality. No equipment is required to see it, but if you want a close-up view, we will be conducting a free telescope viewing!
